Well at Scale Model World ( that wonderful place that can empty a wallet quicker than a wife can empty it ) I got 3 resin models of minions from the Despicable Me films dressed as different actors from other films. One is Judge Dredd one is R2D2 from Star Wars and the best is Arne as the Terminator.
Having never done a resin kit before I shall practtis proctice pracctisse try one first before going onto the kit of the minion as terminator.

Just to keep Wizzel happy - the minion Judge Dredd is put together. I think I shall call him DAVE.
Also at test the photos are marked IATL what does that stand for ????

It's from the film Judge Dredd its one of Sylvester Stallones catch phrases "I am the law" usually said just before he does something nasty to somebody. At least he can speak in this film unlike his mumbling in the Rocky films.

First bit of paint on Dave the minion. Next question what colour are Wizzels eyes (that's when they are not bloodshot. )

I see we are Dredd-g'ing up the bottom of the joke barrel.
But at least with taking photos its very easy to spot mistakes like the yellow on the uniform neck and the spot of gold on the finger - I seem to go mistake blind when just looking at the model.

Well nobody has told me the colour of Wizzels eyes and I must admit I don't tend to looked at them myself - so brown they will have to be.

Well as Big Arnie would say "I am back" - bet you didn't know I was away ?
A short holiday and than i decided to make a new computer table and modelling bench. All was well untill I put the computer back together and then a complete crash on loading up - lost the operating software and everything ( **^^%£""!! ) and the rest of the words i said at the time !!!
Now back running again ( thanks Andy for your help ) --- so back to modelling on the new bench that has NO CUTS - PAINT MARKS - GLUE MARKS.
Just to keep Wizzel happy am finishing the Judge Dredd Minion. at the moment he is matt varnished and when dry will gloss the helmet,boots,gloves,belt and eyes.

A coat 2 gloss varnish on the helmet,gloves,belt,boots and eyes and a base fitted -- now to upset Wizzel when he gets to see it --HO HO HO HO

Having just caught up on this after last night, I see I've missed a lot of fun :) And that's what I love as much as the modelling advice, we really are such a fun bunch of folk who all get along well and can josh with the best of them. Grey/blue would have done for the eyes in the end. Nice twist on the minions though, making different themed characters and nice paint work too Martin. As ever, I was that busy at the meeting to do anything else but quickly snap the models for the newsletter and didn't get chance to actually admire them!

Well R2D2 Minion has now got his first bit of colour on - now for the eye (only one this time so I might not get them crossed. )

The next one is put together - its "IBB" - thats so easy that I will not even bother to ask the question -- its " I'll be back " you can add the silly accent yourself.

Well all primed and ready to go - the detail on the damaged head is great (it will not take me long to make a total mess of this detail with a good dolop of paint. )

Well first dollops of paint on the head to cover up all the wonderful detail. Using Humbrol for the metal plates and eyeball ( think they are a finer grind than the Vallejo - but you have to wait so long for them to dry ) now back on with the ships !!!

Well the eye ball and camera lens now painted on the face. Next for the clothing and gun. Then the smoke and dirt damage to the face ( so Kiteman the damaged one is the minion )

Finished - so a Minion in prison. As you can see from the second photo it has extra bars fitted, so the minion can't escape and annoy Wizzle at the show.

Either that, or we'll paint Msea bright yellow, give him some thick rimmed glasses, some dungaree's and hey presto a life size 'Minion'

Well Kiteman another serious thought provoking question --- looking at the film if Gru is 6 feet tall that would make an average minion about 2 to 2 1/2 feet tall.
Now that is sorted out shall we consider "world peace" -- "religion" -- "how can the England footy team improve" -- or "how old is Zak" -- and other such topics or shall we just get back to making models ????????

Have just remembered at our last show got this minion from Little Cars cheap, because his legs broken.
Have now fixed his legs and drilled out his eye -- now because he is a "steam punk minion" should I call him Dave or Zak ?

Decided that the radio on his back will be used to keep tabs on the £1 subs in the box and IF HE IS SHORT OF SOMEBODY'S £1. The strange bit in the second photo is an ariel for his radio so he can keep tabs on people even if he is NOT in the room.

Storming-minion now has his transfer on his helmet.
