Title: 1/35 U.S Utility Truck M151 Ford Mutt
Post by: zak on August 05, 2023, 01:47:07 PM
The M151 was developed in the 1950's. It had a 4 cylinder 2.3 litre OHV engine. 4 speed with 4 wheel drive,
Ford began production in 1959 and later models were built by Kaiser Jeep and AM General.
This is the M151A1 version from 1964, various upgrades had been made.
Around 200,000 version of the M151 were produced.
Essentially a Jeep upgrade.

This is the Tamiya version under construction.
I will build this as a Marine Corps version.

On the Modelling Day, I started this Academy version, it is not the same as the Tamiya and includes a full engine. This is the M151A1 version.

The Tamiya one has had the wheels added and some weathering.
Decals added as well.
Just the driver to add and some dry brushing to do, then a bit more weathering.

So where Chris W does multi shades of grey you're now into all things olive drab. Henry Fordish or what? Seriously though it looks like it's coming along nicely.

Everything stuck together, slight weathering and some dry brushing.
Some more weathering to go and some dirt maybe?

Three more to build, all slightly different.
The next one will have a recoilless rifle fitted,

Which is better, the Tamiya or the Academy kit?
Well both have their merits and downsides.
The Tamiya is the easier build and has less detail, the Academy has lots of detail, but rubber tyres.
Each kit leaves you with spares, as some parts are used in each kit and others are not.
Looking at the models, it is difficult to decide which sits best.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood, I assumed the "woof, woof" was a quote from Kelly's Heroes, not just about a dog!
Too clever for my own good!

Walker Bulldog, Tamiya kit 1/35 scale.
Nice easy build, as you would expect from Tamiya. Painted, pin washed and dry brushed, just wondering whether to weather it?

Great looking model. Which film was it used these as PzKpfw VI Tigers? I think Robert Shaw was in it as a blonde German Tank Commander.

Battle of the Bulge?
Not sure.

They may have been Patton tanks?
