Much and all as I'm enjoying the Proctor III build there is quite a bit of down time waiting for filler to dry out. To fill in the down time I've settled on the new Airfix Chipmunk as a straight forward build which it is proving to be so far. I'm planning to finish it as one of the two used by the Royal Flight training Prince Philip to fly in late 1952.

Hi Francis,
I think this will look really cool.
If I'm right, I think one of them was bright red overall, with smaller roundels, and an anti-collision beacon atop the canopy. ( Not inferring that Prince Phillip was a hazard in the air!) Are you doing this one?
Look forward to something bright and different on the club table.

Sorry to disappoint Kev this one does not feature acres of fluorescent dayglo colours. Here it is at a fly in sometime in 2014 flying out of Rangitata Island piloted by its current owner Bevan Dewes.

Like the cockpit detail Francis.

Bit more progress today. Cockpit buttoned up as far as I can go for the moment and a start made of the engine department.

Great detail.

Just out of the paint booth after a long spell on the shelf of procrastination.

Looking good.

Not one of my best unfortunately. It's a great kit that has been a battle all the way due entirely to my own stupidity.

Welcome to the Club Francis, lol!!! I have happy (?) memories of flying in one of these over Pontefract Barracks as an ATC cadet. We did 'wing overs' so I could see the Barracks better, unfortunately I was decidedly green when we landed!!!

Paint job looks good Francis.
