Title: Cheyenne
Post by: chriswil42 on August 10, 2021, 07:41:52 PM
This is my next project - the Lockheed AH56A Cheyenne - first flight Sept. 1967. I think 10 of them were built and the project died in 1973.
The kit is 1/72nd scale by Miku in resin with some etched brass. This will be a slow build.

Hi Chris,

An interesting project.

Did Revell, make one in 1/48 - 1/35th in the 1970's???

I seem to remember seeing one.

I'll do some digging and let you know if I'm right or probably wrong.
Cheers,

Hi Chris,
I'm wrong, but right.
Just done a check, and it was not Revell, 1/48th or 1/35th,  it was Aurora and to 1/72
I recognised the box art of the kit on Scalemates.
My Grey cells are working, probably not always in the right order.....!
Msea, Don't go there..........

Shall we form a Resin SIG Chris as I've got a few of that ilk to go at? Lol!!! Looks like I know what I'm working on after the current build.

Some progress on this one - cockpit parts done. Resin kits certainly take a bit longer than plastic kits!

Just different I guess.

Main fuselage halves together. Some filling required as all edges appear to be rounded.
This should speed up a bit now - I hope.

Wait for the rotor!

It's coming along slowly.
Canopy and undercarriage now fitted. The tail rotor blades were too long and too wide so had to be trimmed to the correct size before fitting.

Finally finished the main rotor assembly. This was a bit tricky.

Some decals on. I'm glad I didn't rush this for the club meeting. I had some remedial work around the cockpit glazing to do. I dislike vacform glazing. We'll see how it turns out when I remove the masking.

The worst thing about vacformed canopies is when the frames are not defined enough. Then it is working on a wing and a prayer!

Should that be "On a rotor and a prayer"?

Finished at long last!  I think I'll give resin kits a miss for a while. At least I can display it at the next club meeting.
