This is the 2012 boxing of the 1965 Lindbergh kit which was issued with 'new decals' and box art which I was kindly given at a Club Meeting a couple of years back. The kit has 18 parts in white plastic, 1 clear canopy, 2 other parts for the stand and no cockpit detail apart from a representation of the ejector seat. Another 'Classic Plastic' which will need some TLC, I'm starting to enjoy these!!!

I too enjoy the older kits with few parts.  Often just as much fun to build out of the box (whichever type of box it matters not to me  :D) as they are to add a bit of detail to.

I'm sure you'll do it proud whichever way you choose to go.

The build was slowed by attending our youngest granddaughter's christening at York Minster followed by losing my man cave due to our youngest son using it to work 'from home' whilst up from Dover for the above. But I digress.....
Due to the small number of parts the kit went together quickly with just a console, joystick and seatbelts added to busy up the cockpit. Janusz Ledwoch's book on the He 162 has a profile and two photos of a damaged a/c found by the Americans at the Junkers-Jager factory at Bernberg, near Srassfurt, May 1945. As this had an interesting finish and minimal markings I used this for inspiration. The body front, middle and upperwings were painted Humbrol 246, RLM 75 Grauviolett with the base coat and filler represented by Vallejo 70.816 WWII Luftwaffe Uniform. Upper rear and fin tips are Vallejo RLM 81 Braunviolett with everything else Tamiya Japanese Army Grey to represent a poor quality version of RLM 84, as were the undersides of the wings. Engine front is ModelAir RLM 23, Rot, body Xtracrylic RLM 82 Dunklegrun and rear ModelAir Black. The airframe number is from spares and the Balkankreuz is from the kit. Everything was then dirtied up to look as if the a/c had been recovered from a battle damaged factory.

That looks great.
I remember cutting my modelling teeth on Lindbergh kits!
 The position of transfers was indicated by it being moulded into the plastic!
