Title: 1/35 Panzerkampfwagen 35(t) and 38(t) and variants
Post by: zak on October 04, 2020, 10:40:15 AM
I acquired this CMK kit for £13.50, I was not sure what was in the box, but this is the Skoda Panzerbefehlswagen and has etched brass and resin parts in the kit.
The Jerry cans are resin.
This is the 35(t) fitted with a Fu 8 radio and a large frame aerial.
First impressions - it looks ok, but time will tell.
I should have just posted a picture of the jerry cans and asked you what it was.
I have the Tamiya kit to build into a 38(t).

Yes, it seemed a bargain.
The parts definition is quite good, but the wheels and tracks do not seem to want to stick with either Tamiya thin or Revel Contacta, I have reverted to EMA Plasticweld and that seems to work.
This is the sort of white plastic that seems quite hard.
I may try Slaters Mek and Tamiya thick to see if that is any good.

A bit of information, the (t) denotes that the tank is from Czechoslovak, (tschechisch). The were Skoda and CKD in origin.

If I remember correctly, a large % of the German tank force was these Czech tanks at the start of WW2

Whats the bullet shaped thing above the gun?

I am not sure, maybe the recoil mechanism?
I will endeavour to find out.

It is the recoil mechanism, but armoured as well.

The tank seems to have its basis in the Vickers light tanks.
The running gear in particular.

As this one is a conversion by the Germans, probably Panzer Grey.
This is the command tank with extra radio and aerials.
I must look out for the others in this range, once you get used to the harder plastic it is ok.

My intention was to have all my stuff as 3rd Panzer, but couldn't find this tank in use by them, so yes the 6th.
I ma not sure when, I see you spotted Divisional insignia.

Just about complete, I am unsure about heavy weathering, it is very easy to overdo it, I have done a small amount of chipping on places prone to wear.

The large frame at the back is also an aerial.

Technically speaking it isn't.
"A heavy armoured fighting vehicle carrying guns and moving on a continuous articulated metal track."
But its not far off, it has tracks, is a fighting vehicle and carries a gun.

Here is a different version.
Designated Marder III, this is the Ausf.H (SdKfz 138), with the PAK 40 gun.
These had a high profile and so the gunners were more exposed.
This is quite and old kit from Italeri, so I will just have to see how it goes.

This will be a different version, also served in North Africa.
This is the early version equipped with the 7.62cm Pak36(r) - the sd Kfz 139.
The gun was the Russian FK296 rebuilt to German specifications.
As you will see this is a Tamiya kit.

Finished in Afrika Korps colours, they were grey when they arrived in Africa and then overpainted, I have tried to show this by some grey showing through.
Some weathering, still to add sand to the tracks.
