Title: Mr Hobby paints for Tony
Post by: chriswil42 on June 22, 2020, 10:47:29 AM
I find the mr hobby paints very good particularly for airbrushing. I usually do at least two coats for coverage.
As the paints still mix a little when dry - this good for coats of the same colour - but when a colour change is required I have to put a coat of polish between the different colours.
Also I have found the odd shade difference between the mr color and aqueous hobby paints with the same number.
Also there are some colours in the mr color range which do not feature in the aqueous hobby range.

That'll do for starters.

I only use Mr Colour and thin it with the levelling thinner, it don't half pong but I don't mind that.
I like the way it airbrushes and dries quickly. I thin 1:1 paint and thinner, maybe a bit more thinner
than paint sometimes, it's only a guess.
I'm having trouble with the colours. I'm used to Tamiya and Vallejo paint so when I open a bottle,
I've a good idea what it will look like, not the same with this stuff but it should come in time.
Better to chat when we can see each other and have a cuppa.

Yes I use the mr color thinner but less than 1:1. I find it airbrushes on very well.

While we're chatting about paint, you may find these useful.
If you thin paint prior to airbrushing or mix to get the colour
you want, these are ideal. they're much smaller than Tamiya
bottles which I've always kept when empty just for this purpose.
At £1.00 for six you can't go wrong (17p each). Cheap enough
to chuck away when you've done. I wouldn't use them for long
term storage though, the cork tends to become distressed and
let air in.
Available from The Works.

Good info Tony. You've just cost me another quid.
