Just finished this one. A Fujimi kit (1/72nd) I bought some considerable time ago. When I came to build it the decals had all crinkled up and were totally unusable. After a lot of thinking, head scratching and internet surfing I finally did two things:
I bought a second kit at great expense from the usa (there seems to be a world shortage of Fujimi kits) which had decals for one and a half models. To get to double up the additional decals I neededI bought some water slide sheets (both clear and white). I scanned in the decals from the new model and I was eventually able to print some off. These incuded the Japanese roundels and the black roof patches. I was quite surprised how weel the printed decals went on - they were very thin.
The model was airbrushed with mr hobby paints and Fiat white and then varnished.
Very nice.
It is surprising how good the decal sheets are.
good idea Chris -- sorting out a problem and getting an extra model to make.
Another nice chopper.
Hi Chris,
That looks really nice.
Excellent work with the decals.

Chris, when making the new decals did you use a laser or inkjet printer?
I uesd an inkjet printer. The instructions with the decal sheets suggested 3 coats of varnish - I did 4 of gloss. Then I left them overnight (probably about 24hrs) before using them.
