I have always liked Seaplanes/floatplanes - call then what you will.
I have already built a few, see WW1 thread - Sopwith Schneider and Baby, and then the 1/72 Airfix Grumman OA-12 Duck.
Whilst in Australia we visited an Air Museum and I waxed lyrical about the Consolidated Catalina- mistake, what did they buy me for Christmas last year, yes the 1/72 Airfix one.
I am trying to get this finished as they are coming over from Australia in June/July.
So I decided to start a thread on my seaplanes.
Catalina needs a coat of matt varnish and the clear parts adding.
That looks nice. Also a timely reminder as my German friends are coming to visit in June and I haven't started the Bedford QL that they bought me. Unfortunately it will have to wait a few days as we are waiting for giraffe to come to the waterhole!
See you all soon, Roger

And I thought you where in Driffield ???!!!!!????
The cockpit framing did not exist and so I added it, not my favourite kit, but is quite old, so what can you expect.
I think I built one of these in my formative years - 9 or 10? I remember it as awful, what with tube glue and so on.
No glue to be seen on this one...nice one Zak, and good to see or is it good to sea??

Pun intended obviously!
I have just opened the box on the Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Walrus MkII.
Strange memories flooded back of a certain Mr Dolman working at Jackson/Grandways supermarket in Bridlington. I built a Walrus many years ago, it was purchased by a former club member (Lawrie) from the above mentioned supermarket, he in fact bought two and gave me one. It was the Novo kit and proved a real challenge, I did finish mine but I am not convinced that he ever finished his .
Anyway I digress, the Airfix kit is much better than the Novo one was, or so my memory would have it.
Construction would appear straight forward.
More to follow.
Playfix Beriev Be 6 not sure what scale, probably 1/72
Bridlufc
Hers is on old build of a Walrus for Zak.
Is that the Airfix kit or some other?
No it was no Airfix, it was from SMER, horrible kit, which is why I appreciate the job you did on the DH2.

It looks pretty good.
I once built the Novo one - may have then become SMER, it was awful.
Filling, bad joints and ejector pin marks etc.
More progress, just building from the box.
Looking promising. With a new Walrus due, a comparison of builds will be interesting. I have a Matchbox version sitting on the shelf of doom

1/48 I believe.
Here is mine just about finished, just the glazing to glue in position.
Nice one....Looks far better than my attempt although you have had your share of ill fitting parts with this one too. Well done that man.
