Hi All,
Well, just to let you know that the planning and applications for our show for this year are well underway.
So far we have already filled over 90% of the tables available for displays and over 50% of Traders display space booked. Those reading this and wanting space, please get in touch on modedriffshow@btinternet.com as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
The new revamped venue has been finished, and looks very good. This year in addition to plastic scale models and all the associated traders, we will be having R/C aircraft and ship models, and also 16mm steam gauge railway display. There will be a boating pool for the ship models and an area for a R/C flying display.
An onsite meeting is due in the next few weeks to finalise placements, PA system, parking, etc.
More updates will be posted here as they are available.

How did you get on with the nice lady from Revel, will the make and take come from them this year?
Hi Kiteman,
I have a very good response from Revell. I have sent you a private email with further details.
I am pleased to say all is falling into place.
Bigkev
Thanks Kev.
Crikey, great stuff. I'm very glad to see the inclusion of boats, R/C and railways too as it all goes to attracting a wide selection of public which is people through the door = entry fees = healthy accounts, but more importantly, increases our public profile on the World's modelling stage. Did I pick up that we will have a "proper" PA this time? No disrespect to Andy's little council rig but it's not up to the job in the size venue we have.
I admire your gift for organisation Kevin and appreciate the thought that goes into it all. Count me in as your trouble shooter and runner on the weekend too as it's important for you to try to relax and enjoy yourself on the event itself. Hopefully all members will join in on helping our own club display look a whole lot better than last year's show for the icing on the cake. Tres excitement!!!
Thanks Wizzel,
Yes, a PA system is due to be in by end of June in the Rix Pavilion. So it should be better than previous years, but we must not forget that without Andy (and Chris of Driffield Town Council) that we would have had nothing in the past.
As to be being my 'Runner and Troubleshooter' order your running shoes now....................
But, hopefully they won't be needed.
Bigkev
Wizzel is the man for anything...and I mean "anything"...eh Wiz?
Will Col Tony still sound the same on the new PA system ?
No,
He will sound even better!
Latrines will be your job, if he reads your post.................................
Bigkev
Promotion at last !!!!
Thought we would save all the 'Bum Jobs' for you.
Bigkev
Just you wait, now i can post pictures you will soon see all my bum models - or is that just badly made ?
Bums or Models?
We will be glad to have you on board, matey.
Cheers,
Bigkev

A good mix there, lovely - and good to see that Hull Model Club and The Real Model Shop are supporting us, despite their own event being a few weeks before. Let's hope we have a good turnout at their show.
Were the RC flying and model boat clubs mentioned on the leaftlet?
Hi All,
Well now an update. The Hall plans are drawn, and all tables allocated. The Steering Group will be meeting next week to finalise the progress so far and address any issues still outstanding. (though at moment cannot think of anything significant).
Club/Sig Info will be posted out by end of next week, as will Traders.
Club members supporting the show will be briefed at next meeting on show status and their allocated tasks on the day.
Cheers,
Bigkev
PS. Latest updates on number of views for our show on Airfix Tribute Forum, 420 views, and Britmodeller 220 views.
PPS. Sorry Wizzel forgot to say we had not listed RC flying and Model Boats on leaflet as were not confirmed by time leaflet went to print.
Hi All,
Further update, all confirmations now posted out last week. Another SGM meeting held and some issues discussed.
This year we will be having our members in small teams with a designated team leader who will co-ordinate his group on the day. This we think will work better than an actual rota of duties.
A Briefing will be held at club meeting next week, and on set and show days.
we are still having Traders and clubs wanting space, though we are full.
Cheers
Kevin
isn`t it good to be wanted!! Sounds like a great show is planned.....must see if i can make it!
As you are a club member don't think you will be allowed to see the show, you will be too busy working!
Kevin does not tolerate any slackers.
....and I dont have a poblem with that.
Hi Kiteman,
If you make it over, it'll be great to see you, and there will be lots to see and yes, there is always a job to do, but everybody will have time to enjoy the show.
That Zak is making out I'm a tyrant, I'm a pussycat really.
Whip at the ready,
Bigkev
Hi All,
Just an update on Make and Take event at our show.
Revell have come up trumps and have donated Aircraft and Car kits for youngsters to make at the show.
I have had only positive communication from Revell all the way, and Sarah from Revell UK, and Sascha from Revell Gmbh have been most helpful, and my thanks go to the both of them.
Bigkev
Hi, it's me, the modeller from the bus, remember?
Sorry to have been absent for such a long time, all sorts of other stuff has been going on. I will catch up on all the projects soon, but I just wanted to say how exciting the show sounds! many thanks for the updates Kev, you and the steering group are doing a top notch job. I also have a few models donated by Bernd Koch that he had left over from some event he had summat to do with - some houses for railways/dioramas by Faller and some Star Wars craft of some sort so I'll bring them along on the day to throw into the mix.
Hi Wizzel,
Thanks for your words and support. It really is a team effort this, everyone has a part to play, be it big or small.
Thanks for the offer of those items from Bernard Koch, gratefully received, and will be used.
Will Kiteman be gracing us with an appearance?
Bigkev
Hi All,
Just to let you know the steering group are having another meeting at showground to finalise arrangements on Thursday 20th August at 09.00am.
Also the ID and refreshment vouchers are done, these will be given to and distributed by Col Tony Wilson on the weekend. The vouchers are perforated to enable easy detachment from the ID part of the badge.
Bigkev
I can now confirm that we will unfortunately not be able to make it to the show. We are off to Greece (our Honeymoon trip) in October and wish to save the pennies for that trip. Maybe next year.
What do you reckon I'll be able to sell that 1/48 scale Etrich Taube for at our show?
Steady!
Sorry to hear about you non-attendance.
Have you got a note to excuse you?
Signed by my mother?
Of course.
After all I used to be a teacher.
yes sir.
Hi Kiteman,
You don't need a note for me. What's the choice:-
1. Coming to a model show, with a lot of enthused but slightly crazy guys talking and buying models.
2. Quality time with your beautiful Doro, in a lovely setting.
No contest Number 2 wins.................every time!

Hi All,
The Steering Group have had an on site meeting today at Driffield showground and any remaining logistical issues have now been resolved and all is set to be in place ready for our show.
Some Traders are still asking for space though we have utilised all available tables several weeks ago.
My thanks go to all the steering group for their input and support in this lead up to the show, and also to all the members who have freely offered to give time and effort to make this show possible.
Bigkev

Hi All,
Just to let you know, the good news is the boating pool is well underway, the bad news is it has been 'relocated' to a different location further away than anticipated by Driffield Showground without consultation, requiring a total re-jig of the outside displays.
I have let them know, that I am not best pleased at this, though it seems we will have to live with it for this year. I await a response from them.
Bigkev
Hi All,
Had site meeting this morning, all is in place except direction of spotlights which is being done this afternoon. Will check tomorrow morning all is as it should be.
Pool is filling up nicely and will be ready by tomorrow.
Only 2 more sleepie's till the show.
