This is a kit from Pit Road and is representative of a WW2 Airfield, although I may build mine as a museum to allow for a variety of aircraft to be on display.
The control tower is made up of 9 pieces.
Just thinking -- HOW LARGE will this when its finished 3m 4m or 5m square yoho yoho.
Jokes apart looking forward to this - will you need lots of 1/700 scale people if its a museum
I agree, and what will Howard say when it comes to painting the figures eyes.......
A truly different model, never seen one like it before.

I have just ordered some, but some museums are almost empty nowadays.
Good answer :P :P :P
You could always pretend it's Elvington in November, but Duxford or Newark may be better options. An eclectic mix of aircraft so you could base it anywhere.

Yes, it could be the lesser known Bempton Aerodrome...........Tee Hee.

Undercoated in white and some railings added, looking at my photo, they need straightening, but I can hardly see them!!!!

Funny how photo's show up glitches in ones work, that you hadn't noticed before. Happened to me too many times....
Same here, doh!!!
I hate photos they only show the bad bits :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
In this scale nothing looks good on a digital photo.
Painting the control Tower.
Scratch built T2 type hangar - these could be assembled in various sizes and I believe were the most numerous of the WW2 Hangars, but I may be wrong.
Inside the hangar are some iconic WW2 RAF aircraft awaiting restoration, A Lancaster, a Mk1 Spitfire and Hurricane.
Well this is one way of getting an airfield on the table top.
I thouht you might go for a dockside to go with the ships.

Maybe later!
We were in a T2 at Elvington, there's you diorama?
Some airfield vehicles are included in the set, they bear a passing resemblance to the old Airfix Emergency set.
I held them on cocktail stick, with a hole drilled in the bottom to paint them.

I know Chris hence the T2 Hangar scratch build. I really don't recognise the hangars in the kit.
I will bring them along to assemble on Sunday, all being well.
Those red cross markings must be miniscule!
Looks like they based all the vehicles on the Airfix ones albiet much smaller.
Miniature or what?
Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane, they fit in the half size T2 hangar.
The East Riding Aviation Museum has its first exhibits.
Some dry brushing still to be done on the aircraft.
Have you got the correct colour and markings on the spitfire yoho yoho yoho Neil will be checking :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
Blimey, what a challenge but you'll do a decent job as always. Interesting scale too - I wish you the best of luck
Looking good Dave.
The airfield/museum begins to take shape.
T2 hangar installed.
I like it! complete with authentic looking mud!, after all the rain over the last few days.
Have you placed any exhibits in the T2 yet?

The mud is a base coat for the grass.
Nothing in the hangar as yet, the roof does come off though.
At the moment I am working on the hangars from the kit, 2 of them.
Grass replaces the mud, almost!
Looks like a cross between London Colney, Newark and Elvington with differing aircraft, some requiring TLC. Well done.
That looks good. Nice to see the B-17 and a Dakota still awaiting a repaint.
Will be great to see and a great talking point.
Buildings finished and glued in place, concrete painted.
Watchtowers and sign added.
Impressive.
Very
On nice days, the Lancaster, the Mk 1 Hurricane and the Mk 1a Spitfire are wheeled out of the hangar for the public to view.
Some discussion is underway as to whether the Lancaster will actually go in the hangar.
Mr Robinson discusses the Mk 1a Spitfire and wonders about the camouflage scheme.
Meanwhile the historic vehicles are on display on the entrance road and in front of the control tower.
GREAT but some of the people on the runway have very strange hair, could be the tabs left on ( dont you just hate photos yoho yoho yoho) Has Howard looked at the face painting yet ::) ::) ::)
Think I will get a very large clip round the ear when you see me next ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
