Some work done on this model during Playday 25. It is named after the guarantee engineer who worked with me during my time on one of my Shell Tankers he was from the ship builder Mitsubishi - will tell you some storys from this time when I see you all remind me about the film Tora Tora Tora
A good start Martin.
Did you know Mitsubishi stands for '3 Diamonds' in the Imperial Japanese language? Check the logo on the cars etc.
Thanks Chris for the info, I did not know that - the Merk 3 lines in the circle means the engines used on land sea and air ;) ;) ;)
Kwanasan now has his helmet fastened together as well as the small section on the left (as you look at the front) of the helmet replaced, it had brocken in transit.
Looking good Martin.
I like Japanese helmets a la Shogun style they ooze class and power!!!
Some bits primed - decided on black lacquer armour with gold trim - now its sorting out what lacing and colours to do (thanks for the Osprey book on Samurai Howard- lots of ideas to choose from) decisions decisions decisions :P :P :P :P :P
Just get on with it!
I can smell the overheated brain cells.....

Sorry Kevin that should read "brain cell" hohohhohohho
Helmet now gloss black when dry will paint the horns gold
Dear Singular Cell,
It still looks great.......hohoho
Looking goid Martin.
First coat of gold on the helmet
Look good.
We used to use gold foil for electrostatic measurements, it was so thin and really difficult to work with - stick with paint I say!
Nice Martin.
Base coat on the clothing under the armour and more work done on the helmet
The good news is that unless it was metal then Japanese armour was lacquered so you use a good gloss finish. Did you know that horse riders wore a cape which when fluttering stopped them getting shot in the back with arrows?
Yes Chris they sometimes had a wooden frame with the cape round that - :o :o :o
Howard watch out, nice work.
Bob c
NO Bob - its like ship models if I could get to 50% Haddock level I was happy and it will be the same with Figures - 50% Howard level would be great to me :P :P :P :P
Name picked out in white on the helmet - will let it dry and see if it needs another coat
Excellent Martin.
What does it say?
No it says "she who must be obeyed" well her first name anyway

I wonder who that could be?
I wonder hohohho ;D ;D ;D ;D
At last back to a bit of painting - picking out the rivets and birds on the helmet in gold.
More gold sections added to thearmour
That's some intricate paintwork Martin
That's some delicate work Martin.
Sorting camera out for tonight - seems to be back to normal
Looking good.
Thanks BUT I will have to bite the bullet and do the face soon - sorry Howard - but remember its only for FUN

Not for Howard!
It'll look even more impressive with a head under it. Nice work on the detail painting.
Looks good Martin.
Bob c
Great detailing Martin.
Nice detail work, well done.
Kwanasan rides again - thanks to Playday back in the model mode - not sure if that is good or bad hoho
Body and arm armour painted in gloss black next lots of gold edges and cords to paint. Would add a photo but comp seems to not let me at the moment ??? ??? ??? ???
Photo at last - think because this string had not been used for a while. The comp would not let me add photo to first page but has done this on the second page - or it could be operator error yoho yoho yoho
Bound to be operator error!
You are most probably correct yoho yoho yoho
Nicely painted Martin. I second the operator error.
After a good chat with one of the people in Leeds Armouries decided to do the lacing red.
Thought it might be finished for the annual comp BUT it will need at least 3 coats of red on top of the gloss black then shading and then the face and hair so think it might be ready for annual comp 2027 - or I could get Zak to do it all and it would be finished for Nov this year.
Nice, but painstaking work.
Yes a right pain :P :P :P :P :P and the fingers cramp up after a short while :'( :'( :'( :'(
Perservere, you will get there in the end.
BUT WHEN I want it now yoho yoho yoho think its back to the rum medicine again :o :o :o :o
More work done on Kwanasan
Nice detailed work. The Rum medicine obviously works......

That Rum is working a treat........
The katana looks like it's going to be interesting and the fan looks like a war one, tessen, not for keeping you cool.
Yes Chris for directing troops not waffting air over you face
Dark blue waist sash shaded - now should I go for the face and hands or chicken out and do the light blue clothing :P :P :P :P
Cluck, cluck cluck..................
Yeah, chicken out.
I do love a KFC :P :P :P :P :P :P :P
Have just watched "47 Ronin" again to look at skin colours and used Vallejo dark flesh with medium and flat as high/low.
Will let it dry but think I am going to have to use a darker brown to get a more correct colour :P :P :P :P
Getting there.
