Had this a while so I thought it's about time I started it. Another one from the stash.
This was the precursor to the Seaking.
Fuselage halves prepared for glazing. Cockpit and pilots' seats started.
Another helicopter, the collection must be quite something.
Not just "quite something" but also very large :D :D :D
Is this the single engine aircraft?
A juvenile Seaking then.......

You could say that even though the engine and rotors were the same as the S55.
Cockpit and cabin mounted into the fuselage. Some sanding may be required to get the other fuselage to fit.
Fuselage together and clamped.
Getting to grips with this one Chris
Nice subject. James Bond was winched up by an HH-52 (Sikorsky model designation S-62) in the film 'Thunderball'. That's quite a bit of metal for the S-55 powerplant and drivetrain to haul around! Definitely not enough engines,though... :o
Jon
I'll have to watch Thunderball again.
Tail section fitted.
Looking more helicopter like now.
Nicely faired in tail section.
Engine housing added and some filling done.
Quite a bit of filling.
Not too bad really.
Sponsons fitted. How is it the first of a pair of anything goes great but the second is a real pig?
Ah well, onto the next bit.

The Joy of modelling!
Who knows?
Its how life goes
It certainly is a conundrumm. I wish I'd a pound for everytime that's happened to me!!!
Various fuselage bits added. Almost ready to fit the canopy - a vac-form piece.
Definitely looking like a juvenile Sea King now.
It looks great, hope the canopy goes okay for you. Will you be adding some tiny locating tabs along the cockpit sill for it to sit against?
That might be an idea. I'd not thought of that.
Hi Chris,
I've done it a few times and it worked for me. It only needs to be a mm in depth but you have something to butt up against with the vac canopy.
Thanks for the advice Kevin.
Canopy fitted. Ready for masking.
Looks like you've got the canopy nicely seated.
Quote from: Bigkev on March 09, 2025, 06:04:51 PMLooks like you've got the canopy nicely seated.
With a bit of filler around the edges.
After three coats of primer (white) and first top coat. Might get away with one more.
Whiter than white!
Now that looks 'Awl-White' to me.
It will look really attractive once the Red is on.
I hope so. As long as I don't mess it up.
Red stripes on. A blue one to add before the decals.
Nice touch of colour.
A little progress. I bought some of the AK markers at the latest show. I'm quite impressed with them for delicate work - the black surrounds to some of the glazing.
Looking good.
Completed at last. It took a bit longer than expected but I'm pleased with the result.
Never mind the time look at the finished model and its great.
I like the red/white scheme, better than olive drab.
Really nice job, well done.
Very Nice Work Chris.

Yes it does make a change.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Yes a nice looking model, with an interesting colour scheme.
