Started this at the last playday.
The third photo shows the extras for the naval version as opposed to the marines version.
Wing section complete and internals glued in place.
Now come on Chris what are you doing? This is no more a helicopter than a Harrier is. The old adage of a Camel is really
a horse designed by a committee springs to mind.
I think it's a cool aircraft.
A nice machine but VERY loud!!!!
Quote from: cph64 on October 12, 2024, 10:34:45 AMA nice machine but VERY loud!!!!
Didn't the Americans think it would be stealthier if it was quiet? ha,ha,ha
Main parts of fuselage now together.
Looks like its almost ready to leap into action.
Nice work Chris.
Sponson bulges assembled - some clean-up required. Cockpit just awaiting glazing. Props built and painted.
Coming along nicely. There's some great footage on YouTube of these taking off/landing at Mildenhall.
Nice progress Chris.
Soon be ready for its painting session.
Great stuff.
Great work Chris soon be flying and loud

Yes I've one or two videos on youtube. A remarkable aircraft.
All the lumps and bumps and aerials and canopy and undercarriage on. Now ready for masking.
Nice set of lumps and bumps ;D ;D ;D

Is that on the Osprey or on Chris? :) :) :)
Hmm...
Coming along nicely Chris.

Now primed in white.
White on the upper surfaces done. Now masked up for the grey below.
Looks like a very bad Christmas wrapping on a pressy ;D ;D
Looks like Chris has shares in Tamiya tape........

Wish I had.
Grey paint applied. Next up the detail painting followed by the decals.
Looks like some sort of undercover operations aircraft, almost stealth.
Looks like it's getting mothballed.

I think its the US Navy's 'Stealth Mode'...... :) :)
Started applying the decals. Sixty alone on the prop blades.

We know how you like applying decals Chris.
Ask for a transfer!

Can I do that? Quite a lot more to go.
A few more decals applied. This is going to be a long job.
That's a very smart looking machine.
Getting there.
It's coming along nicely, great work.
Lots more decals to apply yet.
New film!
Carry on Decalling!
The navy planes always looked nicer in grey and white.

Phew! That was a marathon putting all the decals on. Just a coat of varnish to go and the windscreen wipers.
do you spray or brush paint the varnish?
This one, I'm brush painting the varnish.

I just wondered as the transparent bits are attached.
Thanks.
Great work with the decals, a nice reward for persevering. I haven't got the courage to put varnish through my airbrush so brush on the initial coat for decalling then spray the finishing satin coat from a rattle can. After which it's remove the masking.
Finished. A great kit, fits together well, just lots of decals.
Very impressive.
Done a great job with this one.
Looks lovely.
