What the "heck" has emerged from the far dark weird reaches of MSea's mind this time :o :o :o :o
As most of you know when I make a model, its 80% for the FUN and relaxation and 20% to keep the little grey cells working in my brain (no comment thank you Zak hohoho) thats why I do so much scratch building and put them in dioramas - more work and thinking time needed than opening a box and fastening part 63 to part 92 etc - but everybody to what they like best.
This has been fermenting away for a while but has now taken a step forward so before I get started on it, can you guess what it will be :P :P :P :P The figures are some that somebody gave me a long time ago and will be converted to make the model sit in a diorama giving it scale and context, this will also take time and keep me away form humans yohoyohoyoho
Come on Martin, we don't want to delve into the deeper recesses of your mind. Are they very tiny little grey cells or miniscule?
Looks like a circle cut out to me - Zombies at a table?
At least you have said CELLS not cell - hohohhoho
Sorry for the bad photo its a round ball shape about 85mm in diameter - the brown card was just to make it stand out from the white cloth background
Before Chris asks not a zombie in sight - well at the moment none are planned to be in the diorama

Spoilsport.
They could be hidden inside the round ball Chris ;) ;) ;) ;)
Could the white sphere be a representation of one of your brain cells.........?
And the figures accompanying it be representative of the club members..........?
Do you have Tim Burton on speed dial.........?
Questions, questions......
Kevin
Are you working on something from 'The Prisoner'?
No Chris but almost as strange >:( >:( >:(
As it is called ROBBO, is it a spherical robot called Neil?
Part correct Zak - you know I love the posters on the internet about AI taking over the world and we end up with "robot wars" the ones with robot arms and shackles and the shackles breaking, "robot revolution", "a good human is a dead human" and "R Day is near" etc hohohoho
Well this will be the human round tank to fight the robots. Before you ask why I have put paper and glue all round the ball - I know I will end up getting super glue on it when I fasten the acrylic sections together and this will then rot a hole in the ball - so prevention rather than cure :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
Now looking for some tube the correct size to make entrance sections.
Using spare WW1 tank bits?
Yes and bits out of the scrap box :P :P :P
There are some kits out there about 'What If' spherical/round tanks, but as you like to make things hard for yourself.........
Yes Chris MiniArt do one for £50 - but you know me' why do it the easy way when you can make so much work for yourself doing it "The MSea "way :P :P :P :P
An anti-robot tank, Well I didn't know there were such things......
An intriguing build awaits.
Kevin
This build should be interesting.

Is that what you call it!!

Just you wait - you are now on the list >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
It could be the hit list Chris or it could be the Haddock list (taken over by me )
Both entrance sections made, one open and one shut - next job the hatch springs and connections to the lid and body ohhhhh the joy of scratch building :P :P :P :P
Track guard fitted - what have I learnt ??? ??? ??? ??? don't start at the middle of the section, glue down one end first and work from that - the observant amongst you will notice a slight twist in the guard - but heyho its only for FUN >:( >:( >:( >:(
Think I need more cofffeeeeee - just working on the figure to go in the open hatch and had put the arm on the wrong side of the body lucky I noticed before it was solid - so now 2 correct arms in the correct position
Always double check before gluing!
Thanks for the very useful advice even if it is a bit a late - hohohhoho
Quote from: MSea on September 08, 2024, 01:18:26 PMThanks for the very useful advice even if it is a bit a late - hohohhoho
You know what they say - Better late than never.
I still think it will be interesting - in a weird sort of way.
It was an armless mistake I suppose.
Kevin
Don't forget headless as well
Gap on the track cover now had its first coat of filler - when dry and solid will clean up and give it a finishing coat of filler.
First clean up and a coat of primer - lots to clean and fill and then clean again - ohhhhh what fun >:( >:( >:(
Looks like a cricket ball.
Maybe the top coat will be red with white stitching.
Now thats an idea Chris - thanks but maybe "not out" ::) ::) ::)
Quote from: zak on September 10, 2024, 08:26:26 AMLooks like a cricket ball.
Well its gone to white ball cricket now - hohhoho
Guns and entrance sections added
Interesting.
The stability could be an issue!
The model or me hohohohhohohoho
If the cap fits...
HoHoHo you are also on the list ;D ;D ;D ;D
Me? Surely not.
I was quite intrigued by the model at the meeting.
It looked the part and will be even better when with the figures and surrounding diorama in place. Another great "talking point" model. I'm training my eyebrows to react properly when I see it fully finished.
Working out the size of the base and the building in card. Yes Chris the building will have a roof and inside made and lots and lots and lots of rubbish ;) ;) ;)
Front of building made in 1mm acrylic witha 1.5mm base to keep it in shape
Should be good.
Base, raised section and back wall now made a fastened together - shall I make a start on the rubbish to keep Chris happy ;D ;D ;D
Yes, I'm happy. ;D ;D ;D
Rubbish on the way Chris - decided to fit the inner skin on the lower section of wall below the windows, added tissue paper to fill the gap and then first coat of filler into this.
Pleased to hear it.
How could you 'refuse him' Martin....?
Looking good and no doubt will be more creative as the build goes along.
Outside of the building now painted and tables made for inside - just for you Chris one of the tables is smashed up hohohhoho next job some bench seats with damaged cushions again just for you Chris ;) ;) ;) ;)
Inside of the building painted a nice quiet pink and so that Chris doesn't have the colly wobbles the wall and path outside the building painted in his favorite shade - grey, it will be drybrushed with lighter shades later
Will my cup roll off the table?
Depends on how clumsy you are - don't put it on the damaged table hohoho ::) ::) ::)
Will my cup runneth over?
Probably by a large round tank like thing!!!!!
Depends on how full you do the cup, stop pouring when it reaches the brim hohohho
My tank is gentle and would not hurt your cup - now if it was you that is another matter >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Back wall made lighter and a coat of Vallejo black lave/asphalt on the road area
It's all looking very good. I wouldn't have acuppa in that cafe.
Quote from: chriswil42 on September 17, 2024, 04:10:05 PMIt's all looking very good. I wouldn't have acuppa in that cafe.
I agree with Chris, wonky tables and probably dodgy food too.
Just wait till I ave finished destroying the inside of the building - windows next i think ::) ::) ::)
Not the windows but the back inside wall (mirror card) and the floor (old card from a calendar) - never throw things out, they just might be of some use in the future ;D ;D ;D ;D
Nice flooring, did you take advice?
Looks good Martin.
Things to go on the roof - was going to call it ZAKs or M&JAs or MSeas but decided that Chris will be unhappy because NO zombies - so they are on the roof hohohohho
First some anti-human posters put up by the robots on the outside back wall, then some real horror pictures to go into nice pink frames and be placed inside the building ;D ;D ;D ;D if the bottom 2 pictures don't frighten the robots away then nothing will hohohho ::) ::) ::)
Are you sure the bottom two are not robots in disguise?
They probably transform.
They might but what into - ??????? answers on a postcard hoohohoho
They all now have nice pink frames even bigger hohohhohohoho
Think ChrisW has been around with his half bricks - and yes the last window is still whole - you always get one :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
Nice looking broken glass, well done.
Thanks - just trying to be 50% as good as your broken glass
Quote from: MSea on September 21, 2024, 11:40:56 AMThanks - just trying to be 50% as good as your broken glass
Smashing!
A table to fasten just below the round window and 3 bar stools to go with this
This looking really, really good. Can't wait to see the finished item.
Thanks Chris - some Humbrol silver on the seats and tables - now I have to wait till the Humbrop is dry - don't you just get used to Vallejo paint :-* :-* :-* :-*
Watch out Chris Zombies on the roof hohohohohho :o :o :o
Some wire added to the letters to represent flourescent tube - don't worry even as some of the letters will be bent and detatched from the frame, this is new super strong flourescent tube so none will be broken ;) ;) ;)
2 air con units, one finished and other under construction. One will go on the roof and the other against the back wall outside of the building
Are they cast?
Tell us how you made them please.
Part cast part scratch built - just going out will give you full build when I get back :) :)
Sorry did not get back to you yesterday but info now ::) ::) ::)
The vents and fan are from a set of Green stuff World silicone molds I got from Mighty Lancer and the box is just put together from bits in the scrap box, with little round and square sections glued onto this for buttons etc 8) 8) 8)
Thanks for the information.
Thanks Martin,
They look like a good bit of kit for you and the military vehicle modellers.
Did they cost a lot?
Think they cost me £9.50 ish --- looked on line at Mighty Lancer they are now £10.71 but out of stock at the moment
Some larger posters fastened to the back of the model for fun. ;D ;D
The bar stools and table added to inside the building
Looking very swish.
At the moment BUT rubbish and damage to come hohohhoho
Working on the roof - stanchions and bars for the name letters, then electrical wires and control box and air con units etc - then rubbish :P :P :P
Lower bar now added and also the letters
Quote from: MSea on September 25, 2024, 03:48:04 PMLower bar now added and also the letters
Lets have soem lighting, gets some LED's
NO - I have spent years at sea as 3rd eng doing lighting/power generation /etc and then years teaching technology - so now I do as i wish hohoho >:( >:( >:( >:(
Thats enlightening...
You could also say illuminating >:( >:( >:( >:(
But is he keeping us in the dark?
Quote from: zak on September 26, 2024, 08:16:56 AMBut is he keeping us in the dark?
More than likely. Put some lights inside then Martin.
Nice of you to think about me while I was away. Looking forward to seeing this build.
Air con units have had a top coat of pale blue, will remove a lot of this later and the lettering has had its coat of rust.
As well as lots and lots of talking, I even got some work done on bitand the figures fastened together ::) ::) ::) s and bobs to go inside the building
Amazing.
Quote from: chriswil42 on September 30, 2024, 03:28:22 PMAmazing.
Is that the bits and bobs or ALL the talking Chris - hohohhoho
Wires now added from the lights to the isolator box and clips added - will paint and rust them when they are dry
Just amazing stuff!

The detail.
Letters on the roof now have a background of Gunmetal Blue (same colour as used on the strip on the outside of the building) and the fluorescent tube has a first coat of Pink, when its dry will try some fuchsia glitter glue.
Real lights would have looked really cool!
I need sunglasses. 8) 8) 8)
The Zombie sign looks like its glowing..........
Its Martin that glows in the dark!

Is he radioactive.......? :) :)
Zombie Ozzy under construction to go on the roof alongside the name - like the petrol station near B & Q on the way into York.
Its a Dawn of the Apocalypse model and cost me a whole one pound at Telford and its 1/24 scale before anybody asks - could not resist it hohohhoho
A whole pond eh!
Does Joyce know that the pond is no more.
Yes Kevin - I had a go with washers and dustbin lids but they said they only took ponds especially if it had ducks on it hoho
I couldn't find the pound box!
Quote from: MSea on November 13, 2024, 04:16:18 PMYes Kevin - I had a go with washers and dustbin lids but they said they only took ponds especially if it had ducks on it hoho
No crypto currency then.
A figure that's already mangled before you get your hands on it.
Yes Chris saves me so much work hohoho
Some block colour on the figure - yes the hair will have red sparkle when dry and the outfit will be the same blue as the building
Very you!
First coat of sparkle on the hair - anybody wishes to have this done to them, please book an appointment for next playday hohohoho

Some block colours added to the figure
Looking more like you every day!

Well I was thinking about his name and "Zak the Zombie" was the first to come to mind - but its a bit obvious so will keep on thinking 8) 8) 8) 8)
Martin the Marauder!
Martin the Meek.
Martin the Minion
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and many more
You missed "Martin the Mighty" hohohhohoo
Martin the merciless!
Quote from: chriswil42 on December 15, 2024, 10:39:00 AMMartin the merciless!
There were many more appropriate, I refrained as they would be in extremely bad taste and the moderator may have banned me!
I'm glad to hear the season of goodwill to others prevails.
Some more work done on the roof zombie - now thats an idea "Robert the Roof Zombie" or "Howard the High Up Zombie" - will keep on thinking hohohho
What about "Creepy Crawley"?????
Now I have never heard that one before hohohohohho think its going back to Zombie Zak :P :P :P
Very nice but what decease has your last figure caught.
Bob c
Well back to doing some modelling after eating and drinking all Christmas, also my knuckles are now OK and able to grasp hold of things ( yes Zak it was most probably caused by me dragging them on the floor when I walk hohoho)
Your New Years quiz is what am I making now to fit onto the round tank ;) ;) ;) ;)
All 4 legs now made and fitted, just need cleaning up and some filler in the gaps.
When the tank is moving and the engine running, it will be held in the vertical position by having a gyrostailizer but when it come to a stop, it needs the 4 legs to be extended to keep it in the vertical state.

Figure added to the roof, next job fasten it to the building and start adding the brick rubble and rubbish ??? ???
High speed stuff.
Nothing like your speed ;D ;D ;D
Roof added and trial with tank in place
Very round - gyroscopically speaking.
I suppose you had one of those toys like a gyroscope as a kid?
Yes and next meeting remind me to tell you about my father at the New York Worlds Fair and gopocics gyropocics gyrooscupics gyruspocips gyros
Main parts of the inside of the building now added.
Don't worry Chris rubbish to come soon ::) ::) ::)
In your favourite colour, no doubt!
You've put a bit of speed on Martin. You on steroids or something?
Quote from: chriswil42 on January 05, 2025, 02:24:23 PMYou've put a bit of speed on Martin. You on steroids or something?
Steroidoscopes maybe.
You 2 will get two round bumps on the head next time I see you - hohohhohohohoho :-\ :-\ :-\
Oh dear! 8) 8)
Rubbish added to keep Chris happy :o :o :o :o
Now that looks great.
Up to your usual 'off the wall' subject. Nice to know you have FUN with your models and not being just a modeller of kits.
Super stuff.
First layer of Brick-A-Quick added to the area outside the building.
Thanks for the comment Kevin but its not "off the wall" but "demolish the wall" - hohohoho
Excellent Martin. Good to see all the rubbish.
More to come hoohoohoohoo

Get there early and it could be 7!
Some work done on the tank last playday.
Now adding all the rivets - should I count them for the rivet counters hohoho -- might do when adding the second drop of pva to the rivet heads
Work done on the hatch opening device
Nice scratch building.
I could say I was rivetted!
Nicely done Martin.
Bolts on the inspection hatch and both hatches now done - off to give it all a coat of primer
Looking good, nice rivet work.
Back to doing some work - at last I can hear some of you say.
Working on the figures, both the tank crew and officers and also the engineers. If you look at the page from the Osprey book, they will be based on crewmen of Trotsky's armoured train - dressed in red leather. The engineers will be like I was boiler suits and scrufffffyyyyyyy hohohho
Most of the figures are the ones you gave me Zak, so a big thank you for that. So if Howard complains its all your fault hohohoh
We'll wait and see.
More work done on the figures - next job belts and buttons etc - think Howard will go mad when he catches sight of them but heyho its all for fun ;D ;D ;D
A coat of chipping medium and then a top coat of green.. Off for a coffeeeeeeee and then remove a lot of the green showing the primer coat underneath and then on with the rust.
Green removed and legs painted silver - now to walk away for half an hour, then see if it needs more green removing, then coat of Klear and decals then on with the RUST hohohohoho
Decals fixed - now walk away and let it dry solid before the rust - thats what I tell myself BUT :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
Nearly there?
Thanks - yes just lots of rust and bits and bobs on the figures.
Think I shall have a change and do some filling and smoothing on the "Hunt for Red October" sub.
Looking good Martin.
Subtle coat of rust (yes Zak subtle from me hohoho) next job coat of matt varnish, expect it will go silver but heyho its been fun making it.
Do the letters/markings have any meaning?
YES like all my models out of my head - or its more like, its the first out of the scrap box went onto the model hohoho
Rusting looks good.
Do I see some lozenge camouflage from a WW1 aircraft?
NO you see some lozenge camouflage from Howard - thanks Howard.
Matt varnish applied and tank and figures fastened in place - when dry some more rubble and rubbish.
That is looking really good, has that guy on the roof got a guitar?
Thanks for the comment - and yes he has a guitar - hes a rock and roll zombie hohohoho
Excellent Martin. Just a bit more rubbish to go.
