Started this at the playday yesterday. I think there is quite a bit of work involved here.
Cockpit done with new brass consoles.
Main fuselage halves modified ready to accept the larger sponsons and the new window strips from the conversion kit.
There's quite a bit of glazing to be done - 28 windows - should be fun.
Looks good Chris.
All that glazing will keep you busy.
Cheers,
Kevin
That's a serious amount of modifying, good luck.
The new window strips fully glazed (29) after first painting the insides of the winows white. A bit of cleaning up to do now.
Good and detailed Chris
Lots of glazing!
This one is 'clearly' going to be an impressive model........(Sorry, couldn't resist)
Fuselage modifications done. Some filling and clean-up to be done.
It has gone together better than expected so far.
Looking good
That is some nice work.
Will look good.
Kevin
Fuselage test fit.
All seems to be lining up nicely.
Kevin
Fuselage now together with nose.
I like the idea of clear section noses as it makes the windows integral and they don't appear as an after thought.
A lot easier to assemble and paint methinks........
Kevin
It?s coming along nicely.

Masking will be a pig.
Rotor blades prepared. Top one is from the kit; bottom the one for the conversion.
Undercarriage on. The air con unit behind the cockpit had to be sanded down quite a bit. The original part looked way too large looking at the photographs.
Looks like it's coming together nicely. Paint shop soon?

Yep!
First coat of primer on. It has shown up afew areas to be filled. Do that before its next coat.
Hopefully a couple of coats of white over the primer should be enough to make it white.
That is going to look a cool machine when its fully dressed.
Nice work.
Kevin
After a third coat of primer I think I have just about got rid of the green plastic colour. Some filling to do now.
Was going to say 'Looks all White to Me'
Seriously though, sometimes the colour of the plastic used gives a lot of work on certain schemes especially civil aircraft and helicopters.
The finish line just got a lot closer Chris.
Kevin
Thanks Kevin.
Would white over grey primer have helped?
I think it would still be a few coats. One with at least two coats of topcoat now.
Looks white ish to me.

Looks OK to me - but what do I know hohohoho
It's agood job you can't see too much detail on the photo.
Lots of work gone into this one. You're a patient man Chris.

I try.
Hi Chris,
Keep persevering and your patience will pay off with a delightful model I am sure.
Cheers,
Kevin
Getting there. Red paint on - just the blue left.
I made a retrograde step having removed the antenna from the port side - just where the decals are supposed to go. So a bit more fettling and touching up to be done and then I think I'll leave the antenna until after the decals.
Coming along nicely.
Repainted the red in a slightly brighter red. I felt my original was a bit on the dark side.

You don't want to go there (the DARK SIDE that is!)

Keep it bright Chris, don't go into the realms of Msea's Dark Side.
Kevin

Completed. This took a while in the finishing stages. Not perfect but I'm happy with the result.
Great job, this will stand out against all the greys!!
Looks pretty good to me.
Nice work Chris.
It really looks good and definitely different Chinook.
Kevin
You should be happy Chris - it looks great
Yes, it makes a change from shades of grey and green.
