She was built in 1901 at the French yard la Seyne with normal French extreame tumblehome.
Damaged at the Battle of the Yellow Sea in 1904, Rear-Admiral Vitgeft killed and ship interned at Quingdao in China. She was renamed Grashdanin in 1917 then scrapped in 1922

Indeed, but oddly enough I find ships from this period interesting to look at with their 'waists' and turret placements.
A coat of brass on the stand, it will not look like this when finished. The deck has also had its thinned coats of pale brown on the wood, next job to pick out individual planks in lighter and darker colour then finish with a flory wash.

Thought you naval chaps were used to putting 'ships in bottles', surely some tying of rigging inside the hull would be easy........

Planks picked out - next job paint the coal holes and other grey bits and bobs, then the flory wash
Well after a full day out and then sitting leaning forward to paint the planks for tooooooooo long - hip giving me trouble/pain so will NOT be doing any model making today - good job the Liverpool match is on the TV :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Coat of chipping fluid and then a coat of rust in the first photo. Then some rust removed and a coat of varnish then chipping fluid and coat of verdigris - when dry some of this will also be removed.
What's a tumblehome? Is it where Mr Tumble lives?

Replacing the gun barrels on the six twin 152mm (thats 6 inch for some ) the brass tube is 1mm and the holes for them to fasten into the original plastic is a pain to do, but hey-ho it must be FUN as I am enjoying it ;D ;D ;D

Some work done on this lot during playday on Sunday - now all fastened together.
Befor you ask Zak - YES I did bend the etch-brass rail on top of the turret to size and also bend out the 5 tabs to hold it the correct distance off the turret - and NO it looks no better than when the etch-brass was fitted :-[ :-[ :-[

An interesting period of battleship design. It looks somewhere between a ship and a submarine with that extreme tumblehome on the hull.
