This I began at the latest playday. The intention is to motorise this and display it in a diorama - a hot LZ or PZ.
The motor should just about fit inside the fuselage. The difficult bit will be getting the shaft to run true. The motor is 1.5v with a four stage reduction giving 23rpm. I think I may run it at 3v.
I look forward to the rotor turning.
Good luck.
Get your motor running.......
A little progress here. Main cockpit area built. Holes prepared ready to accept the motor. Just got to make a cllar to connect the motor with the rotor. The crew figures are CMK. Needs a crew as it is supposed to be flying.
Can't wait to see it in action.
Very nice.
Those figures look good and will add to the realism.
Cheers,
Bigkev
Looking good.
Slow progress with this one. Cockpit complete with pilots. Next up is the motor assembly and to see if I can get it to run true. Must not forget to drill holes in the fuselage for the wires for the motor.
Motor mounted behind the cabin. Holes and channels made on the underside of the skids for the wires. Now just got to put it all together.
Great work Chris.
Trembling with excitement.
Haddock.
My head is spinning in anticipation.
Much like that rotor is going to be............

Had a bit of a disaster yesterday. In putting some heat shrink on the wire connections I was a bit close to the cabin assembly and hence deformed a bit of the cabin interior. Oh well. A of remedial action is required as can be seen at the rear of the internal cabin. Cabin now mounted in one half of the fuselage. Next to put the fuselage halves together with the associated wiring.
Ooops! Join the clan.
Oooops - I would call it "battle damage" and leave as it is, but that's just me - hohoho
Wires laid into the skids.
A bit of the old electriciggery in action.
The art of Electickery and Plastic in one place!

The motor still runs so far.
Huey ready for painting. And baseboard prepared for the diorama.
Can't wait to see the rotors turning.
can't tell Chris.

Base layer of static grass on.
Almost ready for decals. I have the gunner to finish also.
Will the rotor be turning at the next meeting?
We will all "turn up" for that - its looking great Chris

I want to finish the whole diorama before displaying it; so probably not.
Great disappointment!
It's coming together nicely though.
It's coming along very nicely.

Great disappointment!
I'll relent and show work in progress!
GREAT - looking forward to seeing it Chris
All the decals on now. Just the door gunner to do and the rest of the diorama.
Cue 'The March of the Valkyries' and you'll be away!!!!
It will be well worth the wait.
Cheers,
Bigkev
Another very nice chopper Chris.

Completed at last. I didn't quite get the grass effect I was after - maybe next time.
I'll be able to show rotor turning at the next meeting.
Excellent Chris - looking forward to seeing it at the next meeting.
Looks good Chris, joking aside, have you tried combing the grass?
Looks great, you could always blame 'Agent Orange' for the grass?
