Meanwhile, while I try to model serious stuff, this was a bit of light relief.
Are you sure that's not wind relief - hohohohho

Yes you are correct again >:( >:( >:( >:(
Here is a brig and together with the Frigate.
Are these like the
Serapis and the Bonhomme Richard you made before.

They look good. How big are they?
So life like I am feeling sea sick

The frigate is about 8cm long.
They are smaller than the Serapis and Bonne Homme Richard.
They are by Warlord Games and come under the heading of Black Seas.
The ships are a small plastic kit, hull(2 halves) deck masts, figurehead, stern, anchors, boats and so on.
They have to be rigged,
The ratlines are printed on clear plastic and it doesn't show if the light is right.
Neat.
Hi Zak,
Thanks for the update.
They look great, and until you said about the ratlines, it took a further much deeper longer look to see how they are represented.
Are you now 'Nelson' for the time being....?
I'll turn a blind eye if you are, Oooops sorry! 'Nelson'

Great!
Did you ever do the Airfix 2/- ones from years (decades) ago?
I did them all when I was a kid, Cutty Sark, Victory, Golden Hind etc.
I think they brought them out again recently!
I used to mainly do Sailing ships when I started out modelling, rigging with cotton
pulled through candle wax, then watch the masts bend as it shrank at different rates at each side!
No Albion Alloys in those days, Tony.
I did the Revell Cutty Sark, the big one, when I was about 16, that was a long time ago now.
(Cut out the remmannicsingcing and get on with something useful you old s*d0
Hi Howard,
You made more than me, but I did have a great sense of enjoyment from those I did.
Was it a quick simple build, that looked like the real thing in a smaller scale, yet very quickly.
Very enjoyable nonetheless.

I did them too, I recently did some on the East Yorkshire theme.
Great memories, but maybe not the models, they didn't half attract the dust though,
Yes the rigging ended up twice as thick with the dust after about a couple of weeks - the "good old days" -- :o :o :o -

How true.
A small harbour.
Looks great the harbour finishes off the ship models and puts them into context.
A very nice harbour indeed. It does set the models off well.
Replacing the clear plastic ratlines with home made ones -rather time consuming.
No shine when you look at them.
I have also added furled sails to some of the models, these were made from card.
I wanted some of the fleet to be at anchor.
Looking excellent.
More of the same, this brig and frigate have home made ratlines.
The lighthouse and Martello tower are from Warlord Games, Black Seas, they just needed painting.
The harbours were scratch built.
Nothing is fixed in place,
I like the effect of the diorama. It certainly adds a lot.
Sorry I forgot to explain fully what the kits contain.
These are proper little kits, many are plastic and come in the usual fashion attached to a sprue/runners.
This is the merchant ship, you get two one large and one smaller, they are very similar.
These have resin hulls and white metal fittings, you get clear plastic ratlines, flags, boats, figure head(s), card sails and so on,
I will replace the ratlines with home made ones.
You also get some thread for rigging, I used some finer stuff.
A fair bit in them considering the size.
Fantastic!!!!
I really enjoyed looking at that.
Took me back $%£$ years!
In the original set there were 3 frigates and six brigs.
I decided to make some of the brigs larger and smaller - a cut and shut exercise.
One of the brigs as a pirate ship.
The first picture shows, an original and a larger and smaller one.
They are tiny. Phew!
The British fleet attempt to capture a pirate.
Looking good - my money is on the pirate ::) ::) ::)
Excellent diorama.
Does the pirate get sunk?
The fleet round the lighthouse whilst avoiding the rocks.
Excellent pictures Dave.
It's just dawned on me how small these ships are!!

Just your size - 1/700 scale.
HMS Unicorn and Shannon sail past the sunken pirate ship.
Very clever!
Poor pirates - they was just misunderstood people - just like me hohohoho
Merchant ship for the pirates to plunder.
Sails look very effective.

Sails look very effective.
Not bad for pre-printed card, bent to shape and the the edges toned down.
Very good indeed.
Small merchant ship to compliment the larger one.
Great again - love the green and gold on the hull.
Delicate paintwork.
Wow!
Absolutely Fantastic.
Well Done!!
These are two Schooners. They are white metal kits, approximately 4cm long. the second picture compares them with a frigate and a brig.
More work is needed on the sails.
Ratlines are home made.
Rigging is fine thread.
The frigates were used for quick delivery of messages, these are of the 10 gun variety, such as HMS Adonis.
Perhaps the most famous schooner was HMS Pickle.
Go on then tell me why.
A whole fleet - excellent.
Amazing what you can find out on the internet -- she was the ship that brought news about Trafalgar and Nelsons death back to England.
Now how many ships do you have in your fleet at the moment ::) ::) ::) ::)

When I finish the 6 schooners it will be 17.
HMS Victory next.

As a beginner 'Admiral' Zak is in charge of his fleet.
At this build rate, Britain and Zak's navy is due to have the most number of ships in any nations navy, by the end of 2021.
Not sure if the technology of the period relates to those of nowadays, but numbers count!

Looking great - glad you are back
Victory looks good. Welcome back.
Was it your Bank Balance you're having problems with? Seriously though, I hope you're feeling better. Just caught up with this fantastic thread as it was mostly done when we were 'sans broadband'. Love the paintwork.

My bank balance has recovered, I sold all of the 8th Army Stuff and Africa, for a really good profit.
Wargamers seem prepared to buy built models.
Good to hear, well done.
Onto a Third rate ship, HMS Revenge - 74 guns.
Extra white metal parts supplied, the rear and the figurehead.
Detail is excellent on such a small scale.
The figurehead looks like a serious lump of metal!!
Hi Zak,
well nobody can say your not diverse in your modelling.
I liked the 'Victory' very much, and in some way a tribute to you recovering from your recent illness.
Keep them coming, there is something reminiscence of younger days modelling with them.
Cheers,
Bigkev
I see you've been busy Dave. Some fantastic models.
I've been on the Victory. There's a plaque on the deck that Lord Nelson tripped over and fell to his death.

I wouldn't dare use any of hers, but Boyes has a good stock and you get some in the kits.
That rigging really adds to the kit.
Nice work Zak,

Work in progress, a small bay/ harbour is taking shape.
Great idea - love the setting for the ships
You can imagine the two ships exchanging gunfire. KABOOM!!!

Working on some 1/700 buildings for a backdrop.
Believe it or not 18 parts to this villa, still some painting to be done.
