Have on order from Mighty Lancer the Master Box set with a lady on a motorbike ( this bike is not included in the set) and several zombies. Decided to have the lady sitting on a wall trying to reach a safe house - only its not, hence the title.
Also decided that the body from the ambulance used in the last zombie model - being a good Yorkshireman - never throw out anything, and make use of all you can - will be turned into a shed alongside the house.
-
Now for the windows in the building.
Should I get a plastic/resin set already made and drill holes in the MDF to fit, much to easy.
Should I made rectangular window frames and drill out the MDF, again much to easy.
So its round top windows - holes drilled and cut to shape just need a little cleaning up. The window frames will now need a jig making to get them all the same size - hohoho what a FUN hobby we have.
-
Jig made and a start made on making the window frames.
-
Window sills made - now I can work on the frames.
-
First 2 window frames made and dry fitted.
-
All window frames made and fitted, next job is the main door.
-
Window frames and sill painted and first coat of colour on the wall.
-
First photo is a banner to be hung from the top windows.
Second photo is the one that I did not attach to the last post - brain turning to mush again OR have the zombies have got at me.
-
The shed ( its the back of the ambulance from the last project) has now been cut at the bottom of the planks to show decay.
-
The skulls have been placed on a diamond backing to be placed either side of the door.
-
Hi Msea,
What great building skills, not just ordinary windows, windows with an arched top!
You could be the one man solution to the housing crisis at this rate of build?, Has Boris been in touch?
Looking good as always,
Bigkev
-
Thank you Kevin.
Shed now has a coat of brown then hairspray and then pastel blue on top. When dry will start to remove some of the blue
-
Blue paint removed - next some work on the metal frame and bolt heads
-
Door and door frame started
-
Some more work on the shed.
First time I have used the Vallejo Liquid Mask - found it excellent to work with, much easier than using tape to mask off the metal sections on the roof.
-
Front door fitted to the building
-
Very bright cheerful colours for a bunch of Zombies!
-
Yes but it was in the zombie free zone, untill the zombies took it over - sounds like the club committee
-

Am I missing something?
Is Andy about to repaint Cass Hall's doors, I fancy a nice 'Pink' shade if he is.
Ooooh La la!
Bigkev
-
Sorry Kevin not pink paint but a couple of welcoming heads each side of the door
-
Sign and backing for the windows added and the shed now having a dry run to find the best position
-
Looking good, remember the door handle.
-
If you look closely its one of those posh ones in the center of the door
-
If you look closely its one of those posh ones in the center of the door
I did see that but thought it was purely decoration.
As a scientist, I could never understand why anyone would put the handle in the middle, principle of the lever and all that.
Sorry, only trying to help really.
-
Levers - used to get the pupils pushing on a door at the middle and at the end away from the hinge to show this.
Thanks for thinking about how I can improve the door - next job is to make a letter box
-
Three zombies under construction - the grey ones have no arms so have drilled and put a bit of wire through the body, when its solid will add some filler. All have had sections cut out of the body and legs bent, when painting will add some white bones on the holes.
-
Making 3 or 4 large rubbish bins on wheels to put into the front of the building.
-
First coat of plaster and glue added to the outer walls - when its had another coat of this, I will remove some, in sections to show the bricks underneath.
Now what colour shall I paint the wall ??????
-
Well, it will have to be anti-Zombie paint whatever.
-
Was thinking about anti-clime paint so they don't get over the wall - hohoho
-
Was thinking about anti-clime paint so they don't get over the wall - hohoho
Is that 'Anti-Clime' paint that stays wet, when it is dry and dry when it is wet??
I think Anti-Climb paint is more readily available, it just doesn't dry...whatever the weather or climate.
ho,ho,ho....
I think I'm going pay for this comment.
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
Yes Kevin I feel its time for another cartooooooon
Other than that some work done on the outer walls - plaster removed to show the bricks underneath.
-
Very effective work.
-
Some colour on the outer walls , next job is to dirty them up when dry.
-
Flory wash on the outer wall and the second photo shows a start made on removing the wash.
-

Isn't washing meant to make things 'cleaner'??
Nice work, Msea. I'm ashamed some of my efforts aren't here on the website.
I must do better...…..

Test jig number one to try and make a front panel of the Piaagio truck - we will see if this works
-
Test jig number one to try and make a front panel of the Piaagio truck - we will see if this works
I wait with baited breath.
-
Not happy with the 2 test bits I have done , with different thicknesses of acrylic.
So am going to try with flat sections fastened together and see how that looks.
-
The cab made from flat sections -- at the moment it looks like this is winning
-
Some more work done on the Piaggio
-

I think half the battle is getting the temperature right and plunge moulding quickly.
Did you use a naked flame or a hot plate?
I must admit I have never had much success.
-
Hi Dave it was over a hot plate and tried doing it as quick as possible.
The sides creased very badly and then tried removing them and adding flat sides - but not happy with the finished article. So its the one from solid plates and just waiting for the rivet counters to tell me the Piaggio should have a more rounded front and this and that is wrong with it --- and they will get %^$£&*%$.. Remember its only a hobby for FUN
-
Glad I only build ships!!
Haddock.
-
But what ships you build.
Some wheels from a kids toy added to the model ( yours Bob will be used to make a second and improved model ) and a coat of primer -- now what colour shall I do it, at the moment it is going to be pale blue.
-
Large and small bin made from brass and soldered together, the larger one will have wheels added later.
-
Hi Msea,
Nice to see your keeping busy.
Like the Piaggio Van, very nice'.
I like red, but happy with blue.
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
The only car that should be red is a Ferrari -- like the one you drive - hohoho
Just think about the amount of models that will get finished over the next few weeks !!!!!!
-
See Dave I can read - hohoho - found this idea in the Fine Scale Modeler Damaged issue Spring 2020.
My brass bin looks OK but not like the old metal dustbins -- this one is from the metal tube of Tomato Puree ( thanks for the idea of using this Howard ) and I can make the corrugated stripes in the body of the bin.
-
Lovely, you could use thicker aluminium foil.
-
Thanks will give it a go - need lots of bins to put the bacon butties wrappers in after you have sent them - hohoho
-
Piaggio has now had a coat of hull red and rust then an overcoat of hairspray. When it is all dry will give it a coat of Vallejio No67 sky blue.
-
Reminds me of that song,
'3 wheels on my wagon, and I'm still rolling along'
Nice to see your creative skills are just the same in this difficult time, and your 'still modelling along...'
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
Keep happy and safe to everybody
-
Yes, I echo that.
Very, strange times at moment.
Hunker down and get some modelling done.
Bigkev
-
Coat of green added and then some removed to make it a rusty Piaggio next to the wall. Will now try and make some broken windows
-
I like the rust, I must have a go sometime at that method.
-
Thank you Zak - looking forward to an excellent rusty model from you.
The broken windows have now been fitted
-
Looks good, how did you achieve that look.
-
Very impressive and realistic, Msea.
Well done.
Bigkev
-
Hi Zak the side windows just cut to shape and fitted . The front window was drilled with a small drill and then score lines with a scalpel to make the broken look. The plastic was thick plastic backing from an old book that was not clear and looks like dirty windows.
-
Well, it looks the part.
-
Some bins made, the first photo is some old fashioned household dustbins. The top left one is from shim brass and will be painted to show rust and muck the others are rust painted and hairspray method on top of thin aluminium ( thanks fro the idea Zak - you can put the grooves in unlike the shim brass one). The second photo shows 2 industrial bins first one rusted and the second has had hairspray and some steel colour, soon to be removed
-
A trial to make some black bin bags full of rubbish to put in the industrial bins. Will make a few -- bad ones on the bottom and any good ones on the top of the pile.
-

Rubbish, did you say rubbish, what are they made from?

Yes that's what I make - hohohoho
They are made from a black rubbish bag cut down and tied at the top
-
from Rorke's Drift to Zombieland -- some figure recycled to turn from soldiers and zulu into zombies and zombies dinner - before you say yes I need to get out more !!!!
-
A start made on making some cloths for 2 of the figures.
-
A start made on making some cloths for 2 of the figures.
Moss Bros or do you remember Peter Pell.
-
was thinking its more like "man in Burton's window"
-
One of the models donated by Zak - now painted with a base coat of white on the flesh and the holes cut into the body with a deep red. When dry will try and add some bits inside the holes as bones and some bright red round the edges.
-
Some bones added to the figure
-
That man has a strange anatomical structure.
-
It was your model so I am blaming you - even so he is now a zombie so he may be a little strange.
Bet he wishes he was still belonging to YOU and not being destroyed by me.
-

Bet he wishes he was still belonging to YOU and not being destroyed by me.
Glad you do not work as a medical surgeon!!
Not only would there be zombies, there would be many disfigured individuals based on your anatomical understanding.
I'm keeping my head down now...
I'm a zombie on most days, so a contender for a modelling project seems probable.
Bigkev
-
Working on the Masterbox figures from the set "Zombie Hunter - Road to Freedom"
The first figure should be sitting on a motorcycle but she has been downgraded to a wall, the others are the zombies and will look much more appealing after some paint - hohoho
-
All 5 figures now put together
-
Is that you on the right?
-
Much to handsome and happy to be a model of me !!!!
-
Much to handsome and happy to be a model of me !!!!
Also the wrong scale around the waist!
Bigkev
-
If this lockdown goes on much longer you will not be able to see me - with doing all the jobs I have been putting off for the past few years and healthy eating and NO snacks I am wasting away ( well less of me than before) -- only another 2 or 3 stone and I should be at normal weight for my height !!!!!!
-
A start made on blocking in the colour on the zombies.

Hi Msea,
Nice looking figures.
Cannot see the one that resembles you, you know the one with the flamboyant Hawaiian Design!
Cheers,
Bigkev

Wait till I get going with the dry and fresh blood and other things like vomit -- then they will look more like my shirts - hohoho
-

Keep it clean, please!
-
I have never seen a CLEAN zombie !!! They even make me look tidy and smart
-
Looks good.
Cheers
Bob c
-
You could use them as drunken squaddies after VE Day celebrations!!! Colourful as ever, nice work.
-
Looking forward to the finished model.
-
Sorry for the delay Chris -- with the garden, painting fences, doing jobs I have put of for years and trying to sort out my room, and then watching films/neflix on a night -- not got a lot of modelling done. I know what you are all going to say "must try harder" - will do
-
I wasn't going to say that at all. But seei g as it's you - there are 24 hours in the day! He he.
-
And 7 days in a week !!!
This might make you laugh -- have not had a watch on for a while , and looked at my watch on the windowsill and it is still on old time before we changed the clocks - hows that for being out of date
-
Dried blood added to some of the figures - next some fresh blood and some vomit, then to mess up the figures with mud and dirt.

Hi Msea,
Just like being at work.....
Bigkev
-
I thought it looked like a club night - hohoho
A start made on the zombie killer on the bike ( being a good Yorkshire Man - she has no expensive bike but a home made wall to sit on ) painting the inside of the coat etc, and when happy will add the coat tails and try to get them so she sits on the wall OK. That is the plan at the moment - if that plan goes wrong, will make her so she is falling off the wall.
-
Do you use real blood and vomit...
YUCK!
Andy.
-
Now that's a good idea Andy - now how to get some ?????
-
Watch Britain's got Talent...

Trying a new method for painting leather, read it in the new Fantasy Figures International magazine it is a base coat of German Camo Dark Brown Vallejo No150 and then stippled on a coat of Burnt Umber No 148
Looking at the photo it needs another coat of Burnt Umber to make it more even. When happy with this will put Mahogany Brown No139 on the cuffs/etc as wear and a then a coat of Beige Red No36 as highlights and then a wash of Smoke No181 to bring everything together.
-
The coat tails added to the figure and a little filler added to the gap between the tails and the body. When dry will overcoat with the dark brown and stipple with Burnt Umber
-
Leather coat finished , I like the new method, bit of messing about but a good finish I think.
-
Looking good Martin
-
Thanks Chris next job - just like the shark - add a bit of brass rod into parts of the ladies anatomy to sit her on the wall.
Seeing as she has a GUN I will do the operation and then run for it - how would YOU like a metal bar inserted ????
-

Now careful, the moderator may be about!
-
Does he wish for a metal bar ?????? I think I will pay for that message.
-
Blood splatter on the outside and inside walls of the building.
I read about Citadel "Blood for the Blood God" in the magazine and how it looked realistic as splatter on a wall.
-
Does he wish for a metal bar ?????? I think I will pay for that message.
Yes.....
YOU WILL......
It is duly noted that Msea, is due some VERY, VERY serious moderating.
Bigkev
-
I thought I would pay for that one but unless you have grown your arms a lot longer than I remember, you could not reach me at 2m apart - hohoho
A trial run on the lady on the wall, at the moment she fits very well without the brass bar.
-
The blood splatters are good.
-
Thank you Chris - I think Kevin will do that to me when/if he can get me - hohohoho
-
Keep on splattering, you have been watching too many gory movies.
-
Keep on splattering, you have been watching too many gory movies.
I have lots of time to do that at the moment - both splattering and watching films.
-
Or do you mean spluttering?
-
Or do you mean spluttering?
Oh how cruel you are Chris - hohohoho - but correct.
-
I do my best.
-
Hey, just joined this one and the usual MSea insanity is still there........ooooh how I am glad to be back. Thanks mate, Keep it coming.
-
Hey Kiteman there is no Insanity Clause -- just don't tell Father Christmas.
-
Decided to add some more blood splatter on the outer walls, hope I have not put to much on.
-
Decided to add some more blood splatter on the outer walls, hope I have not put to much on.
In your world, is there ever too much blood?
-
Don't know what you mean Zak -- don't understand the concept "toooo much blood"
Anyway first figure added and a start on some rubbish/papers/magazines around the place.
-
Is that todays paper?
-
Yes shall I send them for you to read - hohohho Looked on line and found pages that seemed to have links , with virus, zombie and dawn of the dead titles. Next job adding some beer and beans labels onto some aluminium tube.
-
Did some magazine covers - sticking them on post-it notes to make them look OK.
Did some for you Zak - they are the Mad magazines hohoho
-
You can really go off some people.
-
HoHoHoHo
-
Hi Martin, how do you do the mags etc.? Just pictures printed off very small I assume?
-
Yes Chris the magazines are just printed and shrunk to scale 1/35, and stuck onto some post it notes to make the pages. The cans are again just printed off and wrapped round some aluminium tube and then cut off and some squashed. The papers are printed off and some extra blank pages fastened inside.
The photos are showing how the figures and some bits and bobs are fitted to the base. Always find it amassing how you make lots of bits and when you fit them you find you need about 10 times the amount.
-
Thanks Martin. Looking good.
-
Is the Zombie in the second picture taking time out to read the TV Times, or is it Zombie Weekly or the Dead End News?
-
Am I allowed to say that that is making a bloody good diorama.
-
Thanks Kiteman.
Yes Zak he is reading the sports quiz in Dead End News its called spot the ball zombie
-
Another group of zombies inside the free zone area.
-
Looks like a bunch of interior decorators who have got it wrong!
-
I though they were eating the man on the ground.
-
I though they were eating the man on the ground.
They are -- if you notice three are the 1/48 scale figures you gave me.
So they are school kids getting there own back on the bad teacher who is 1/35 scale - now who could the teacher be ???????
-

Hi Msea,
Appropriate in some ways....
But have you looked at the picture on the T&L Golden Syrup tins.....
I think it goes, 'Out of the strong, came forth sweetness'
You might regret this remark.
You decide, or perhaps Zak might have an appropriate observation...
Bigkev
!968 BoB film ' "Tin Hats Everybody" comes to mind....
-
So Kevin you are saying that if the teacher on the ground was ME -- then I am strong and sweet - thank you very very much, didn't know you cared so much - hohohhoho.
-
I was a postman?
-
Made a pizza box on white paper, then decided that the envelope that my magazine came in was thin enough to go through the printer and was the correct colour for the box's.
-
Bella Magnifico….!!
Bigkev
-
Can I have ham and pineapple please.
-
Is that from Domino's, Pizza Hut or from Pizza Planet - all different cost so make your choice and would you like fries with that order sir - hohoho.
-
Pizza box on white and brown paper - not a lot of difference but enough to make it look a little bit better.
-
Truly amazing Martin.
-
Was just sat in the garden doing NOTHING and had a terrible thought - are Piaggio vans made of steel or aluminium. They seem to be steel, thought I was going to repaint the whole van to make it aluminium - now just have to make a better job of the rust on the van.
Have also decided ( no idea why, strange things pop into my head at times) to have a washing machine as the load that has tipped out and is now rusting away merrily next to the van.
-

Your mind is a wonderful thing - do I really mean that - or do I mean weird.
-
They are steel, and they rust.
-
Thanks Kiteman was looking it up on the internet and they do not specify materials but looking at the photos - they have lots and lots of rust.
Zak I am now speechless -- you saying my mind is wonderful and Kevin saying that I am strong and sweet - is it all a dream, will I wake up or is it a nightmare ??????????
Now going to make a washing machine - see you all later
-
Basic body and door now made - all the small bits and bobs to add and a coat of paint and rust
-
One washing machine - next job paint and rust
-
what cycle are you on?
-
Delicate of cause - hohoho
Also started making some rum bottles - have the labels from the internet.
-
You sure that they are not from your stor cupboard Martin?
-
Can't be from my store Chris - these are full bottles of rum, mine all seem to be empty - hohoho
-
My mistake. They are probably a bit small anyway!
-
Delicate of cause - hohoho

Just a bit of sprue that I have cut down to bottle shape.
My mistake. They are probably a bit small anyway!
Yes Chris -- I have a 70cl and a 1L bottle of Kraken Rum , and the 1L tastes much better - hohoho
-
So you're using upmarket labels then and not the Tesco bargain ones? I had a glass (or two) of Kraken the other night. Mmmmm

I wondered if you had turned them.

-
No just a bit of work with a round and then flat file.
-
Some rusting done on the washing machine and the Piaggio van.
-
Piaggio and washing machine added to the base.
-
Hi Msea,
That looks scary...
I think the washing machine looks excellent.
Great entertaining build this, and so many great modelling skills evident.
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
I like the rust effect, very real looking.
-
Thank you both for the comments - BUT did the van and the washing machine separately and when I have fastened them together noticed that the fresh rust stains on the washing machine are flowing in the wrong direction.
Now will they wash off and I can then put some more on the correct way round ????
-
Like the rust on that Zanussi washing machine.
Andy.
-
A couple of photos of the nearly finished model.
Just getting up the courage to try and make the rust on the washing machine flow the correct way, for how it is stood.
-
Turn it upside down?
Looks very "out of this world". Were you brought up on "Do not adjust your set ……………. - now what was the programme called?
-
Excellent model Martin. All very impressive. The rusting is just magnificent. John's tutorials worked then?
-
Thanks Chris -- yes Johns stuff was good, and I also bought the Mig book "The Modelling Guide for Rust and Oxidation"
-
Thanks Chris -- yes Johns stuff was good, and I also bought the Mig book "The Modelling Guide for Rust and Oxidation"
Now your talking my kind of language, oxidation, gain or loss of electrons, now which is it?
Is rusting merely oxidation or is some hydration involved there too?
What is rust, some kind of hydrated Iron oxide, but how many water molecules and is it just iron (II) or iron (III) or a mixture.
You just brought back some great memories, ah well, back to lockdown.
-
I would say "you need to get out more" but that's not possible at the moment - so just keep thinking about formula !!!! that should keep you quiet for a day or so - hohohohho
-
I thought oxidation was a combining with oxygen such iron so that you get Fe2O3 and FeO.
-
What have I started - hohohohooo ( thats H4O6 to you lot )
-
I thought oxidation was a combining with oxygen such iron so that you get Fe2O3 and FeO.
It is/can be but the technical definition is loss of electrons.
In its simplest sense it is the addition of oxygen or the removal of hydrogen.
Rusting is not simply oxidation, other processes are also going on.
-
I thought it was just a bit of brown paint !!!!!!!
-
I thought it was just a bit of brown paint !!!!!!!
Luddite!
-
Thank you for the compliment Zak
-
This is all too much for me.
Haddock.

To get away from rust/oxidation/brown paint talk -- first of the rum bottles made ( hohoho and a bottle of rum )
