This is the left-over He 162 from the Revell (Dragon re-box) of the Mistel 5, He 162 A-2 and Arado E 377a. If you remember I used my old original Airfix kit of the He 162, which was re-worked, as the upper component.
The design team at Heinkel looked at using a butterfly tail for the 162 and I had a resin one in stock so decided to use that. There is a profile of an A series plane with the butterfly tail in the Wydawnictwo 'Militaria' book on the 162 so it allowed me to use it without having to make the forward swept wings of the proposed C variant.
This model has sat on the shelf for a couple of years before I've returned to it. A piece of plastic sheet was placed in the gap at the tail and carved/sanded to shape. The second photo shows the cockpit as it was when I put the model down.
