Next model started for "Playday 4" Got the Mark Bowden book about the battle for Hue during the Vietnam War, this got me thinking about the model I was going to do a while ago after seeing the drawing about street fighting in Hue in the Campaign series No 4 by James R Arnold.
So it was out with the book and and up in the stash to find the 2 sets of figures that could be used in the model. Decided to do the section in the back garden with the ARVN troops blasting through a wall, so will now go and make a base and walls from MDF.
-
Four wall sections made and also the base slotted to give some strength when the walls are glued into the slots. The second photo shows them all fastened together and the last shot has some tea leaves added to the garden areas.
-
You have tea shares?
-
You with your cereals and me with tea, think we have breakfast sown up - hohohoho
-
I'm looking forward to this one Martin.
-
Plaster added to the walls - reading my book on Hue, most of the walls/houses are a pale pastel colour.
-
Pale blue and pale red added to the walls.
-
Both buildings made in card to sort out size and position
-
Looks a bit like the toilet block I used in Kazakhstan!!!
-
Some work done on the two buildings the second one with a flat roof has had some fancy surrounding walls made and the last photo is a start made on some trees to place in the garden and surround.
-
Coat of yellow green on the plaster on the walls and the bricks picked out on the sections that the plaster has been damaged and removed.
-
You've got a move-on since yesterday Martin. Looking good.
-
Thanks Chris - got a lot done last night after Playday 4 when I was listening to the Liverpool match - hohohoho Five nil will say no more !!!!!!
-
Obviously not a Manu fan!
-
Three years studying in Liverpool gives you a view on football and its not MUFC - sorry for all you Manu fans, I will not harp on about the five nil score ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Window and door frames added - when dry and solid will smooth and make all fit, then damage them were the brick work has been damaged.
-
Some Flory wash on the outer walls and colour on the window and door frames
-
Two doors under construction
-
Looking good Martin.
-
First layer of tiles put down on the roof, when solid will add the top layer of individual tiles.
-
A nice use of materials.
-
Thanks zak - and I also had a pie to enjoy - hohohohho
Cut the individual tiles and have fastened them on , next job is to make more tiles, amazing how you think you have enough until you start the job.
-
Outdoor cooking range made to put in one of the gardens
-
You have been busy, I still need to get going after having family here.
-
Nice oven and roof.
-
Taking orders from the oven BUT the only thing I can cook is bread - think it would be a very small loaf hohohoho
-
Are you fuelling it with buffalo dung, as I've seen used?
-
No Chris - "HOT AIR" from committee meetings
-

Using his loaf obviously.
-
I will not rise to that one
-
Oh dough you won't.
-
Work done on a pergola -- when finished it will be covered with wisteria and then damaged and partly collapsed.
-
Some different size wire twisted to make wisteria and second photo shows this added to the pergola
-
This is looking interesting.
-
That's a word Chris that covers a multitude of sins - hohohho
-
Hi Msea,
Looks another interesting build from the master of 'interesting/different/insane.
Nice work, another winner from the Msea stable.
Bigkev
-
Any chance you can make me a 1:1 scale pergola? We could do with one in the garden (but no zombies!!!!)
-
ALL my products come with a zombie attached - so sorry about that - hohoho
-
First 3 leaves made for a banana plant to go in the corner of the first garden about 4 more small leaves to add and then make several small pups to make it into a banana plantation
-
ALL my products come with a zombie attached - so sorry about that - hohoho
So where is the zombie in this diorama?

Patience, patience - maybe none?
-
NO ZOMBIES in this one - how about that BUT I did watch Mad Max Fury Road last night so think I will have to finish off the zombie shopping mall and then do another post apocalyptic one - so just have some patience Chris - ho ho ho

I am a fan of all the Mad Max films.
I don't think my imagination runs into modelling it though.
-
I think it could Zak
-
Five bananas now made and coat of pale green on them all.
-
They look real which, I suppose is whay you're after.
Haddock.
-
Yes that's the look
-
Didn't take much to turn Britain into 'Mad Max' once the Express headlined petrol shortages. Pity they couldn't have timed releasing it to the same time as the Goth Weekend, we'd have had some great costumes at the pumps!!!!
-
First five bananas added.
-
What about some fruit on them?
-
Great backyards Martin.
-
What about some fruit on them?
Sorry Zak the fruit has been removed and put in a pot inside the house - as per photo - will think about making some scale fruit for the model and adding it later if that will make you happy - hohoho
-
Very good, it was the model I was referring to.
-
I thought, so but as this is about the only thing I grow in the garden that could be said to be edible, thought I would keep you up to date with its progress - hohohho
-
Pergola removed from the bottom of the garden - it just looked wrong and out of scale
-
Whatever makes you happy.
-
I am now happy - BUT what to replace it with on the back wall - decisions decisions decisions
