Looks 'Railly Good'.
Hope to see this at Northern Model Show, Zak.

Anyway congratulations for exceeding the 20,000 hit mark for 'Modelling World War 1'. There is obviously a lot of interested followers out there.
Are you thinking of setting up a 'fan club'?
Though probably not a good idea as you would need to grow what hair you have got left to look hip.
Well Done,

Hi Kiteman,

Re- your Firefly, a very nice build. I was a bit intrigued to see the camouflage of what I see as Dark Grey/Green/Brown upper surfaces, with possibly Sky underneath.
Was the top scheme a temporary over paint of dark grey/green on the real thing for use in the Asian theatre of Operations?
A good build, much quicker than mine I have to say. Keep them coming

Hi Olvar,

It might be best if you use photo's to show your images, reduced down to smaller sizes.
I'm not quite sure what method you are using to transfer your images, but I can see if you open what you have posted the image appears, and then remains quite large. This might create a problem if the cache cannot cope with such large files.

We tend to ensure our images are reduced using a resizer such as Faststone (which is free to download).
If unsure check with Kiteman, and he'll put you right.
Cheers,
Bigkev

PS. We don't really like to have anything on here that is attached/associated with adverts, which can be seen on further down your images.

Hi Olvar(Olli),
Welcome aboard. I look forward to your posts in the future.

Don't worry about the English, we are much worse in German. Modelling does not need a language, just a love of the hobby overcomes such small problems.
Nice to have you join us,
Regards,
Bigkev

Hi Kiteman,
It is a North American B-25 Mitchell.
Looking at the parts possibly a G or H.

Wizzel,
I am in your gang, I definitely think it is a Firefly. All your observations are correct for a Firefly.
Right Kiteman, its your turn...........................

Perhaps the Panzer Grey is too old.

Its now been 70 years since the end of WWII!!

What about some nice Halfords Grey Primer??

Hi All,
Just to show that still progressing with 'Rata'. I have now applied all decals, and only a couple of small areas where I need to deal with silvering, on the tail numbers, and fuselage inscription.
I have now pricked and re-applied Micro Sol where necessary and think that will do the trick.
Weathering will be next.

Hi Zak,

I use an old aerosol spray can top, from the large type such as Halfords Grey Primer.

I find that my Alclad II and Microsol/set bottles fit in the centre resecpticle tightly but are less prone to knock over.
Possible soloution?

Hi All,
Well the metal cowling fixing is attached and the exhaust ports have been touched in.
At this stage there is no weathering, so the exhaust ports appear too bright, but once toned down and matt varnish applied it will look a lot better.
The metal ring is that. Cooking foil cut into a thin strip then a thumb nail drawn along its length to make it smooth. The side shown is the 'Dull side' the reverse 'Bright Side' is far too shiny to be in keeping. In fact the metal ring will also need some light toning down during weathering process.
The foil was attached simply by applying 'Kleer' to the moulded ring then laying on the foil around the fuselage, trimming to length, and then another coat of 'Kleer' over the foil to seal it.
It is a little fiddly to do, but worth it.
Some pictures follow:-
Next decaling and weathering.

Hey, up Rommel,

Nice to have you on board!
I agree with you, what about a disused Aircraft Hanger at Driffield instead?
