Hi Francis,
Glad to see that jpeg's work for you. Hope that you are okay to proceed with that format.
Cheers
Kevin

PS. Nice work on the Ferret. Looking at the posts it appears that you are building at the same speed as Wayne!

General Discussion / Re: Models on the Table May 2024

Hi Zak,
Thanks for taking and posting the pictures.
It was a very good meeting. The Demo by Wayne was very interesting and I'm sure we all got something out of it.
Some very nice models on the table including a nice Waterloo diorama........
Bob's entry was a worthy winner amongst some very stiff competition.

It was most impressive Bob.
Full of character and attention to detail. I liked it a lot.

Hi all,
Little update.
Now have got cockpit inset trimmed and sanded to shape and reduced the gaps significantly. The Instrument panel assembled, and a brace fitted to support it as the attachment points are quite small. The nose has been filled with a mix of Plasticene, some lead .22 pellets, and some aquarium lead sheet under the cockpit. I checked that there is enough by doing the fingertip balance, by balancing the fuselage between the fingertips in line where the main wheels will be. In my case there is plenty, no tail sitting with this one.
The wheels, legs and cockpit parts all cleaned up, and then given some primer. Whilst primer out, the intakes got a blast, and generally all is good, just a faint seam to rectify during final assembly.
The jet pipe installed and primed. Some pictures follow:-
Thanks for looking Kevin.

Hi Chris,
Got to admit that you've had a battle with this one. Not sure what went wrong with the spraying, but it looks okay with the 'hairy stick'
Modelling isn't a clear cut science, sometimes you have to adapt your approach which you have done in style.
Watching the final run to completion.
Cheers,
Kevin

Thanks chaps,
Back to it with this one.
Now painted the airframe. The upper surfaces were painted first, using Tamiya Light Ghost Grey from a rattle can. This sprays very nicely if you give lights coats until an even finish is obtained. When fully dry, the uppers were masked off and a couple coats of Intermediate Blue were sprayed on. I mixed my own shade using Tamiya Middle Blue, White, and some Tamiya Clear. My mix was roughly 30% blue, 60% White, 10% Clear thinned appropriately using Mr Hobby Levelling Thinners. Because of the Clear being added to the paint mix, I ended up with a smooth semi gloss finish.
The undercarriage bays were masked and given a blast of Tamiya White.
When I painted the airframe I painted the main undercarriage legs the same under surface colour, only to find an unnoticed seam line running the length of each leg. This was filled and sanded and will need repainting before final assembly.
Some pictures follow:-
Thanks for looking, back soon.

Hi All,
Sorry not been at the bench for a little while, been doing some 1:1 modelling in the garden, a new Potting Shed for Christine.
Now its finished, so back to the bench.
Today I did a check on the cockpit bulkhead, and could see some slight gaps at the top and side of the bulkhead. To remedy this I have added thin strips of plasticard of varying thicknesses to the bulkhead. Though this looks heavy now, it will be gently trimmed and sanded to shape to close those gaps to the bare minimum.
Also have filled and sanded the wing to tip tank joint.
Some pictures follow:-
Back soon, Kevin

Plenty to keep you busy, or is that 'out of trouble'?
Watching with interest.

It's on the way, just waiting for some more refuges.

Bob c

Could be a very interesting diorama in the offing with one of your great Tank models.
You could allocate names to the refugee's based on club member's which would be interesting.

Thanks Bob - its a lot of holes in some mud - about my level I think.
Also not a figure in sight, so Howard can't make comments about the face painting - hohhohohohho

From 'Engineer' to 'Mud Mover'..........Impressive skill change, hohohoho.
