Hello friends, here I am again.
First, I want to show you how I paint the first time a flat figure with oil paints.
The head of Odin is primed:
-
Hi Oli it is great to have you back on line with the club.
Looking forward to seeing your flat figure painted.
-
I always look at flats and wonder how the painters achieve the 3D effect.
Nice to have you back and this will be interesting.
-
Likewise, very interested to see how this is done.
-
Hi Oli,
Nice to have you back!
Cheers,

Hello friends, I am also happy to be back.
Thank you all.
The skin is with burnt sienna 5% and turpentine 95% brushed
it will dry for a few minutes
Then, with turpentine, wipe the raised areas
( Oh man I hope the program translates correctly)
-
With skin color, the skin is brushed and dabbed with the other color.
The highlights are set with white
-
The helmet is painted black.
Then brushed in iron color.
With white, gold the highlights are set.
-
Now the hair.
With yellow then with brown and dark brown the shadows
-
The highlights with white
-
paint the wings with white and dark gray
-
Now the most important, the eyes.
With black the inside of the eye, white the eyeball
Blue and black the pupil and finally a point of light with white.
Make another eyepatch and Odin is ready for Walhalla
-
Valhalla indeed, it is a great job and nice to see how it is done.
-
Perfect explanation Oli.
Great to see just how you achieve such a great finish, a lesson to be learnt to all of us, aeroplane, ship, and military modellers. The techniques will surely be able to be used whatever the genre.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Oli, you made that look easy! Great explanation thanks.
