And just when you all thought I wasn't going to make anything different. So for a change I stared these at the playday.
Painting of these will be fun. The mouldings are very good.
-
I still think you should hand paint the shields - yohohoho
-
I'll see how many decals I have.
-
Scale and make?
-

Decals for shields bought from Victrix a while ago.
Added decal to first shield. These are not standard waterslide decals. After cutting out and then lifting the plastic layer, underneath the coloured pattern is sticky and adheres well to the shield. A drop of water is used on the backing sheet which comes away nicely.
-
Looks good Chris, now what about the other 10,000 shields to do - hohohhoho
-
How many have you got to do?

About 30 I think but not altogether.

I'm impressed by that shield Chris. Looking forward to seeing your Romans at the club.

Lovely, a few more needed fora Legion.

In progress.

Some paint on the 2nd cohort.
-
Looking good Chris , you are nearly ready to take over the world - hohohohoh

Is the armour/helmets etc painted in silver? It looks a bit like gunmetal, or is it my eyes?
-
The paint is a mr metal color described as stainless. Not quite as bright as silver but brighter than gun metal.
-
First line of the phalanx ready for battle. These take a while to paint.
-
Nicely done.

Nice work Chris!
-
Thank you.

Great painting. Are they waiting for the heicopter to land before attacking?

Could be. I once read an SF novel about a civilisation which discovered space travel before gunpowder. Quite an interesting tale.

Up on Hadrian's Wall at the moment, imbibing all things Roman.
We visited the Corbridge site yesterday, it never fails to amaze me just how advanced the Romans were.
-
Enjoy your time - I expect a set of Roman figures will be your next project ::) ::) ::) ::)
The Romans put us to shame - us modern people are still trying to sort how how they did some of the things they achieved.
-
They have only recently worked out the constituents of their concrete which self heals small cracks.

Takes some beating I believe.
Just been to Vindolanda, my Dad took me in 1967, there was only a milepost to see, a bit different now.

I could do the whole of Hadrian's Wall in 1/72 scale. No, ok, my room is not big enough!
-
How about 1/35 scale - just think of the detail - hohhoho
-
Maybe 1/350th?
-
Harking back to the March conversations I remember that in a comic (new Eagle?), there were various civilisations that had modern technology and the Romans were one of them. Anybody else remember the comic and storyline?
-
Sorry Chris BUT nobody in the club goes back that far - hohhohohohoh - ::) ::) ::) ::)
