Still lots more to add.

More building and decaling, does transferring sound right?

That is the colour suggested in the kit instructions.

Out gunned I think.

Body shell painted.
I mixed my own "Ford Olympic Blue". I used Tamiya blue, white and their clear. Here is the result after undercoat, several coats of the mix and rubbing down. I may need to lighten the mix a little. It will now have a coat of Johnsons Klear before the decals transfers are applied.

The underside is almost complete, yes, the wheels turn left/right but not around.

Remind me to tell you the story of when I did glow in the dark - next meeting perhaps.

I knew that I should not have built the 52 Chevy.
I am now working on this kit.
It was driven By Timo Makinen, so it is left hand drive, not right as the original.

Very nice it is too - well so far.
I have been undercoating and painting all the bits, its quite time consuming.
Here is the underneath.
Here are the seats with seat belts and etched brass bits.

Painting in progress.

Base made - now to decide who will be placed on the dock next to the reactor ?????????
Not that you will take any notice of me, but I think the reactor will spoil the whole effect. why not display it as a separate entity.
Haddock.
He wants to irradiate someone.

General Discussion / Model kits for birthdays and Christmas
« on: September 20, 2016, 03:20:53 PM »
My family seem to think that they know what I want to build, they buy me presents for anniversaries and so on.
I can understand the Chevy -bit of a joke, its the same age as he is and so on.................. .

I happened to be in Australia visiting my son and his family, we took the kids to an Air Museum just outside Perth.
I waxed lyrical about a particular aircraft - yes - guess what, it was a kit for Christmas.
You would think that I would learn.
I once mentioned Wallace and Grommit, Dr Who and Shaun the Sheep. Lots of presents to build there. Yes I built them all and then gave them away.

Well I now have the 1/72 Airfix Catalina to build. Joy.

Quick work then - for you I mean!
This is only a small kit though and I am only building it because it was a present for my birthday.
Why do family buy kits for Christmas and birthdays?
Maybe I should raise this under General discussions?
I now have last years Christmas present to build.

Just spotted the finger mark on the rear mudguard, it has now been removed, these photos are cruel.

It was masked and then some hand painting as well.
That's about it I think I may run some thin black round the doors and panel lines.

Yes, no chrome. so it will have to be paint as my bare metal chrome seems to have gone off, it will no longer come off its backing.
I shall be using some chrome paint I picked up, its called Plasti-Kote Projekt paint and is a fast dry enamel.
