Thought I'd get another one started while waiting for the Ocean Hawk's glazing to cure.
The is a Special Hobby 1/72nd kit. They produced a whole raft of Cobras a few years ago. All the same sprues generally but with different instruction booklets.
-
Do you think the Cobra was the first real Gunship??

First one designed specifically for the purpose. Many helicopters had bits added on before this time but really the Cobra was the first gunship.
-
This will be another good one. Saw some of these for real in Norway many years ago.

I loved the sound when I was in Vietnam
-
You were in Vietnam during that period Martin?
-
Late 60's Chris - and yes the Viet Cong did shoot at me before you ask.

They missed!

You should have paid them more - just think of the quiet peaceful time you would have had over the last few years - YoHoHo

Yes, but how could we have had the club without you Martin?

Cockpit assembled - 17 parts ( I know not many compared to you tankies in 1/35th ).
All pretty good mouldings from Special Hobby.

Surely enough for a 1/72 scale kit?

I think so. I have just realised there are another five parts to be added yet.

-
Cockpit now mounted in the fuselage.

It’s coming along nicely Chris.

Agree.
-
Just about ready for masking and painting. The canopy was in 5 pieces.
-
Looks like your the only one doing anything at the moment.
Keep it up.
-
I agree with Zak - you are keeping the web site going by yourself .
Slap on the wrist to myself, will get something done tomorrow.
-
I did wonder where everyone was. I thought my access to the website had gone woopsee!
-
Sorry Chris - but you will have to stay as a "one man band" for another couple of days.
The strange things you do in lock down - we decided to empty the cupboard under the stairs and sort it out - it is now pristine and shiny but I have tweaked my back again - so it looks like it will be a couple of days before I get back to the model bench.

Hi Chris,
Still here. On holiday this week so I hope to get some modelling done, and reply to some of the builds.
Cheers,

Hope you're not out of it for too long. Take it easy!
-
Thanks Chris - just a bit of pain letting me know to be careful -- will give it a couple of days keeping upright , not bending over the bench and should then be back to normal ( now what will Zak say about me being normal - YoHoHo ) >:( >:( >:(
-
Hi Chris,
Looking the part, will this be in an overall Olive Green colour once in the paint shop.
Cheers,
Kevin

You'll have to get 'she who must be obeyed' to walk up and down you back MSea that should cure it. Or at least put you in your place. lol!!!

Hi Martin... I hope you are ok now
-
Thanks Howard -still giving me a bit of pain, so taking it easy and NO BENDING OVER THE BENCH - just sitting upright and reading history books.

Does this mean, access to the wallet and credit card is inhibited?
If, so. Joyce has done well.
What will be her next feat of punishment to Msea??
Please receive these 'virtual applications' of Ibuleve in the hope help can come from members in your hour of need....?

PS. Get Better Soon
-
Thanks Kevin - its getting better as we speak -hohohho
But Amazon and the Book Depository are easily accessed over the internet so the books have come with no pain (only to the wallet)
-
Bookworld Wholesale have lots of Nautical things on offer at the moment so even more for you to spend your pension on!!!
-
Plenty of time to sit and read then Martin.
-
Main colour on. Detail painting left to do then decals (or stickers if you like).
-
Almost there Chris,
Its going to be a good looking machine this one.
-
Cobra complete. Went together nicely and all parts fitted together well. The decals went on well - less then 30 secs in water. Finished with Mr Hobby 340 field green.
-
Love it - whats next ????
-
Fantastic job. The nose reminds me of a Romulan Bird of Prey!!
-
It looks great.

-
can one man ever have too many helicopters - nice model.
-
No. Plenty more Cobras to come.
-
How about one in a paddy field or on a river gunboat ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Got some more ideas for some dioramas to be done later (3 I think at the moment). I don't think the Cobra flew from the boats.
-
Looks great...Well done!
-
Thanks Howard.
-
Great Job Chris. Well done.
-
