And now for something a bit different. This arrived last Christmas.
-
Hi Chris - I think I need to go and get my eyes tested, can't see the rotor arm bits on top of the helicopter = hohohohohho
Will enjoy this being made.
-
You're imagination is working overtime Martin.

Hi Chris,
Something with wings......
This looks an impressive set of parts.
Looking forward to seeing how it fares in your capable hands.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Plenty to keep you occupied for a day or two.

RAF or American.

Bob c
RAF of course.
The mouldings are very good. The parts so far have slotted together quite nicely. Pictures to follow.
-
Main sub-assemblies done. Most of the engine bits will be inside unseen.
-
Engine components in place.
-
It will be flying soon by the looks of it - great work Chris
-
Looks a great kit.
-
Main fuselage halves together.
-
Looks good Chris.
Bob c
-
Ready for masking. It's gone together a treat so far.
-
It looks the part.
-
Is yours one of the extra F-35’s the RAF will get.
Bob c
-
F-35s they might get!
-
Probably.
-
Your build looks good ,Chris, but the aircraft looks ugly!
they used to say if it looks right, etc. but modern stuff ??????
Mind you, Lord knows who looked at the Blackburn stuff, Botha,
Skua, Roc etc!

Quite!
I think they look uglier now because they are fly-by-wire and computer controlled so they don't necessarily look flyable.
-
I would rather be ugly and fly by wire and get out of the sights of the other fighter, than look good and get shot down >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I think that sums it up!

First coat of another shade of grey. This shade was very close to the primer colour - needed good lighting.
-
Hi Chris,
Looking good.
The raised panels blend in better now after the primer.
Not my favourite aesthetically looking aircraft, but we now live in different times when being 'pretty' does not mean 'surviability' in the current times.
I'm sure you will squeeze everything out of this model to perhaps convert me??
Cheers,

Looking good Chris and not a rotor in sight, unless you count the fan ducting!!!
I disagree Howard I think the inter-war designs like the Skua etc have a certain strange loveliness. Either that or I'm wired up wrong!!!

It's ugly.......And its not very good either!
-
Your model looks good though!
-
Upper surfaces with second shade of grey - tricky and very slow.
-
There's a lot of chat online about the real thing being an expensive bust, so we'll probably order lots before the cost cutting exercise!!!

Cynical but true
-
Hi Chris,
Despite all the political and realisation views of the real thing, this is a good looking model.
You can never have too many Grey's!!
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
Yep, Graugrun, Grauviolett, Graubrun lol!!!!
-
Keep going you’ll get to 50 shades, it looks good Chris. It was very expensive to do the the different shades, so the newer airframes are generally one colour.

I bet Halfords got the contract! could it be 'Halfords Primer Grey'
They now are advertising in earnest on the TV, so must have got some cash input from the MOD?.

Bob
I'm not surprised. I wish I'd done a later airframe then.
-
Complete. The lighter grey highlighting the panels took an age to paint - don't look too closely. Also there were loads of small decals to go on which also took ages. It came without a pilot so he came from the spares box. Overall I'm pleased with the finished model. It fitted together pretty nicely - very little filling. This was probably one of my quickest as I only received it last Christmas.
-
Nicely finished Chris, the light gray looks horrendous to do better you than me, it will look good on the flight line at Marham.

Great finish Chris, well done. i know some reviewers have struggled to get a finish as good as this.
-
Thanks for the comments chaps. Now the East Riding Air Force has as many F35s as the RAF.
-
Very nice, you've done a great job.
Did you have any trouble photographing it... Being stealthy and all. ;D

Nope.

Hi Chris,
Great looking model.
I don't like the F-35 looks, but you have done a good job on this one, credit to you Sir!

Thanks Kevin.

Looks very good1

Less delicate Howard.
