Here were are another biplane, but what is it?
A couple of clues for you:
It is not from WW1
It is a trainer.
I will change the title when someone guesses correctly.
-
No idea ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Could it be a Tiger Moth?
-
Could it be a Tiger Moth?
It could be but it is not.
-
Not a clue.

Koolhoven?
-
De Havilland 60M metal Moth.
-
Stearman Kaydet.......?
-
No idea!
-
As always Kevin is correct.
Well done that man.
-
Some painting in progress.
-
Bright colours for a change.
-
Some assembly and parts to paint.
-
I came across this in Croppers the other day.
An old kit.
This was reintroduced in 1996 for the Independence Day film, but the kit is much older -1950's?
-
Your next project then Dave?
-
Hi Zak,
Could that be an 'Lindberg' kit. I think it dates from 1958, only a mere year older than me, it's probably wearing better too..
I currently have a Revell 1/72nd version, another from the 50's/60's era, on the 'in-betweenie' shelf.
Look forward to seeing it's bigger brother finished.

Sorry, yes it is the Lindberg kit.
Scalemates has it as first produced earlier than 1958. but then new moulds may have been made.
-
Rigging next once the transfers set and a coat of varnish has been applied.
-
Hi Zak,
Looking 'PRETTY' good. Always liked nice vibrant yellow winged subjects.
Look forward to the finished item.

Looking excellent Dave. I agree with Kevin's comments - definitely a bright yellow.
-
Yes the colour is like YOU Zak its a little ray of sunshine - hohoho
-
I'm sure I built a 1/72 scale kit of this by Revell long, long ago in my youth!!
-
The Lindberg kit has rigging wire supplied, but it is rather thick!
I will complete the kit as a trainer with the Canadians.
I may have to make my own transfers.
-
Sunglasses optional!
Looks good.
Haddock.
-
Revell kit almost complete, rigged, just some light weathering required.
-
I'm beginning to think that wire looks better than thread!

I'm beginning to think that wire looks better than thread!
I am still wondering.
I like the thread in some instances and the wire in others.
-
Lindberg kit, built straight from the box as an interesting exercise to compare the two.
Obviously the Revell one is better, but for its age the Lindberg is not that bad.
Rigged with wire thinner than that supplied in the kit.
I thought the home made transfer had worked ok, but they seemed to suffer after a coat of matt varnish for some reason.
-
Two great builds, well done.
-
A nice pair of models. The rigging does look good
-
Looking great great
-
Thanks for the comments.
I now have one in 1:72 to have a go at.
-
So when you have finished it - it will be great great great - only because of the different scales hohoho
-
But, there may be more to come so it could be Great Great Great Great
-
You're beginning to sound like Tony the Tiger!

As this kit will be all one colour, I may save it to build on the Model Day.
Sorry Martin. I really don't like "PLAY DAYS".
-
So... what's the consensus regarding the BEST Stearman kit... I've wanted to build one for years - since I flew one at North Weald in fact (did I ever tell you about my trip in David Gilmour's Stearman? Pull up a sandbag...)
As this kit will be all one colour, I may save it to build on the Model Day.
Sorry Martin. I really don't like "PLAY DAYS".
-
Is that the "David Gilmour"?
Show off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well it won't be the Lindberg one.
What scale are you thinking about?
-
Yes zak, THE (pink) David Gilmour…. I’ve long been a modeller of 1/72nd but probably 1/48th…

Roden and ICM in 1/32nd?
I can only find the Revell one in 1/48th?

You move in higher circles than us mere mortals.
Maybe you should join Martin on the Dark Side (of the moon of course).
-
Different circles anyway!
-
Moved thread to biplanes and rigged aircraft.
