Found this at the back of a cupboard and it will be the next model - DON'T TELL HADDOCK.
If you notice I have just posted 2 more photos of the destroyers I am rusting up, to keep Haddock happy.
Not that I am a total coward -- but when I was teaching, one of the pupils asked if I had been in the army. I told her no but if I had been, I would have been in the "RASC" -- that would be the "run away someones coming" regiment.
Now back to the model, it is a Poste Militaire 90mm figure of a French Hussar. Have sorted out the colours for the model but will let "she who must be obeyed" decide on which regiment he will be in.
-
"She who must be obeyed" has now decided on the colours. Trumpeter of the 5th Hussars in reverse colour to the main hussars. Info from the Osprey book Napoleon's Hussars - men at arms series number 76
So it will be red breeches and pelisse ( the jacket slung over the right shoulder) with pale blue dolman ( the jacket that is worn on the body)
-
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO big words as well.
-
I will give you a few more big words on Wed at the meeting - *^%$1///
and because of you "she who must be obeyed" has bought me a new drinking mug - will bring that on Wed as well --!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Basic red and blue colour added to the figure.
-
Ooooh La La!!
Very continental looking, just like you Martin!
Bigkev
-
Just you wait till Wed - Oooooh La La indeed
-
Dear Count Msea,
After hearing where you going on your hollie's, soon, I'm going to be wearing a garlic necklace, just in case you decide you want to make me a pain in the neck!
Never mind Ooooh La, La, should I be thinking Ooooh Heck!
Bigkev
-
You think garlic will stop me !!!!!!!
I feel another cartoon coming on - "Kevin Dolman vampire hunter" or "Kevin Dolman vampires dinner" --- just you wait.
-
After a lot of searching eventually found the base plate for the model.
A coat of primer and then some brown colour for the soil, when dry will dry-brush some green for the grass, paint the small rocks and a coat of black for the edge.
-
Modelling poo now I see!

Modelling poo now I see!
You always say my models are sh** when I say they are ship models - now we are getting down low and dirty -- hohoho Just to change the colour, a bit of fast growing grass to cover the soil/poo.
Trying to get some modelling done before Kevin sends me the latest set of information about the show and I will then have to change the plans again. We love you Kevin , but are you trying to make as many changes to the show plan as Neil did ?????? hohohoho
-
Now then Zak have some more rocks to throw at me - I am now going to make some bread, wonder what colour and shape it will turn out ???????
-
Black edge done and all now fastened onto wooden base.
-
Bit more work on the chair and his head.

You know me Msea,
Never like to be outdone...….
Did you know the average HB pencil can draw a line up to 35 miles long, so there is still room for a few amendments before the lead runs out...hohohoho!
Nice modelling by the way...….
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
I think my lead has run out already - hohoho
Looking forward to Mondays epistle - have got 6 new pencils ready - hohohoho
Thanks for the comment on the models - the face will be OK as long as Howard does not see it.
-

He now has a number 5 on his sabretache ( another big word , Zak ) , next job paint black again and pick out the number and eagle in gold.
-
I have read about such things in the odd novel.

You can read --- I am impressed !!!!!!!! you just have to explain what is an "odd novel"

The Allan Mallinson Novels.
So Zak you will be well up with your Napoleonic uniform names after reading them - or like me do you just look at pictures in books -- hohoho.
A bit more detail painting done on the bits and bobs ( that's technical words just for Zak )
-
The bits and bobs look well.
-
Thank you literate sir.
-
More work on the helmet
-
The rush seat of the chair has now had a brown wash, to make the strands stand out.
-
A start made on the gold braid on the uniform.
-
A trial to see how the chair and body look when in position.
-
Hi Msea,
For a ship modeller, you ain't done a bad job on this 'Hussar'
Love the detail on the seat, exquisite or what....
Look forward to the finished article.
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
Thank you Kevin - at least you said "ship modeler" -- hohoho
-
That is looking really good, I look forward to seeing it in the flesh.
-
In the flesh -- now you have done it --- I have the face to paint and I have been putting this off as long as possible.
-
Put of doing the face again - some more gold on the trousers and the jacket -- next job to do the buttons.
-
Buttons done.
Next job, the face -- but I could do the sash and other bits and bobs instead -- hohoho
-
Very nice, but will it float?
Haddock.
-
Very nice, but will it float?
Haddock.
Its all white metal so i don't think it will float well.
-
Working on the bits and bobs - still putting off doing the face.
-
Taken over from Bill and Howard now have you?
-

Well said Msea....
However, you are a very competent figure modeller as this example shows....

Bigkev
-
Chair and shako now added to the base.
-
More bits and bobs added to body - now only the sword to finish and add to belt -- then I WILL HAVE to work on the head and face.
-
Some work on this head - next job ear-ring to paint gold and some highlights on the hair/eyebrows/moustache.
-
He may still be headless but be careful he now has his sword.
-
More work done on the head.
-
He is now no longer the "headless swordsman" but is a full rounded figure.
-
Nice little scenario.
