As some of you know Zak and I have differing ideas about what should be grown in a garden. Zak ONLY grows things that can be eaten, while I grow NOTHING that can be eaten.
Saw this advert by Dragon Head Models in the Fantasy Figures International magazine and decided that this would be the first model to make in my new room, it just amused me. It has just arrived and when my room is back in working order will make a start. I don't even have a paint brush or paint at the moment.
-
Looks fun Martin!
-
I think that the little figure looks pretty like Martin.....
Tin hats........
Bigkev
-
Is that a parsnip or a carrot or something else?
Which one will I be?
Could this be Martin raiding my allotment - no the parsnip is too small!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Martin needs a bright shirt.
-
It is a parsnip in the company info - and YES Martin will have a bright shirt when holding up the winning parsnip Chris

Is it non-edible then, or have you snaffled it from me?
-
Its resin, so if it is my garden you can't eat it - its just for show - hohohhohoho
-
Parsnip Wars!!!!
-
Decisions decisions decisions, both models will be mounted on one block of wood, now should they be separate like the first photo or should I join them and add more soil/land and have a fence between the 2 plots. Think at the moment will add a fence to keep that Zak out of my land - hohohoho
-
Together, but two plots with a First World War type barbed wire fence between them, duck board and lots of tools, wheelbarrows and maybe a shed as a backdrop.

And a Wee Willie Tank to act as a rotavator......?

Come on Martin, step up to the mark.
I like the idea of a tank/rotavator, get building.

I could have some gears on it.!
-
Martin's gone quiet. Maybe he's building a fence.

On holiday.
-
Two section marked out and now a central section to be cut out and fastened between the 2 parts.
When it is cut all 3 will be on a wood block and some surface detail added to the center section as well as a fence - the fence is needed to keep that Zak out of my area - hohoho
-
Use some of those gears for a post apocalyptic rotavator!
-
Center section made, next job cut some holes for the fence post - now all I have to do is find the box of balsa - its a pain sorting out and having your room done, you can't find anything.
-
Don't worry Martin - it will soon be back to normal!
-
You mean a MESS Chris - don't think so "she who must be obeyed" says I have to keep it tidy now its all been done - hohohohhoho
-
Put a lock on the door Martin.
-
Put a lock on the door Martin.
When I see you both, remind me to tell you a story about a railway modeller with a lock on his model room door.
-
Looking forward to that Zak.
Holes made for the fence posts and the balsa then worn and damaged to make them fit into an old allotment garden area.
-
Cross bars added to the fence
-
What.....!
No land mines........?
Bigkev
-
Under the ground so he can't see them hohohoho
-

Barbed wire?
-
No barbed wire at the moment - just a base coat of brown on the fence and some texture on the base.
-
Trial run with the 3 bits on a wood base and the 2 figures added, the space at the front of the models will have the title "Garden Wars" fitted into this space.
-
Looks good Martin. Can't wait to see it finished.
-
Another fantastic fantasy build.
Bigkev
-
New base made - thicker and slightly larger with an angled front for the title.
-
The 3 section added to the new base and filler added to round off the edges and give it a more natural look - well I think so ????
-
You would be asked to leave our site if your allotment looked like that!
-
Just you wait till its finished - hohohoho - first base coat of brown on the soil, next job some base colour on the rocks.
As I have always said, about classrooms in schools or life in general - its what you make of it, not what it looks like ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Wisely said Msea
-
Looking good Martin.
-
'Life's What You Make It' is my favourite TalkTalk song.
-
A little filler on some hairline cracks and brown paint on top of that, and the base colour on the rocks and stones.
-
Coming along nicely. The fence posts look like one I used to repair the fence to the veg plot. 1:1 scale of course!!
-
Great work, a good crop of rocks.
-
Good crop, but a bit on the hard side i think, bet your veg is more tender - hohohoh
Two keep out signs under construction.
-
Sign painted - think the orange against the brown does not show up enough so will overpaint with light green.
Other photo is some shading on the soil and rocks
-
A bit more legible with the green paint on.. Have a guess which land is just the property of the owner and who has got landmines sown to keep people out - hohohohoh
-
Impressive....
Not a spelling mistake in sight...
ho,ho,ho
Bigkev
-
Yes my speeling has got betar - hohohoho
-

I think mine would say "The Land is Mine"
-
Great Martin!
-
Both figures (me and Zaz, Zak and I, him and me - whatever you wish to call the pair of us) now have metal pins for strength and the 2 signs added to the base.
-
Just like Sandra, she now has a stainless steel hip joint!
-
Looking good Martin.
-
Only the best people have metal parts - glad she is OK and tell her it was the best thing (medical that is) that happened to me 15 years ago.

Will do!
-
Two spades now painted and added to the base. Have been waiting to get some "retarder medium" to try, now we will see how it goes.
The Zak figure is now about to be painted - should I try and make him look happier or leave him with his normal expression - yohohohoho
-
I had forgotten about this.
Leave me as is, Grumpy as always, I wouldn't like to disappoint anyone!
-
Your wish is my command - yohoho
-
Some colour on both figures
-
Lost for words!!
-
Lost for words!!
Can't you think of enough bad ones - hohohoho
Some work done on the green leaves for the parsnip.
-
Sorry, have you checked the literature on parsnip foliage?
What variety are they? Gladiator or Tender and true, perhaps a special variety "Long and Grumpy".
-
They are MSea type, so you are lucky they are some form of green - they could be blue or pink or any other strange colour that comes out of my head.
-
My large one and Zaks small one now painted - will let them dry, and see how they look after a dark Flory wash.
-
That's not fair! I want the big one.
Mr Grumpier than ever!
-
The soil in your veg plot is worn out - mine has not been used, so it produces larger veg - that's my story and I am sticking to it.

Yes, but what do I put on my plot and bury under the soil - too polite to tell you!
-
It could be something that starts with the letter "B" or the letter"S" - I am too polite to guess ::) ::) ::) ::)
Now on to the model -some Flory wash on the parsnip and then most removed.
-
Working on my face - before you say it, I know my face needs a lot of work - yohohoho

Are you suffering from canker on your parsnips?
-
At least you have not asked about on my face - hohoho
Pale blue coat on the shirt - next job to try and make it look like the one hanging on the wardrobe door.
-
You Artist you!
But what kind of artist?
-
|Not sure but I do like rum ::) ::) ::) ::)
Some more work done on the parsnips
-
This is looking grand. Not to mention the dialogue between the two of you. Maybe you could write the sketch with the words to describe the scene Martin!
-
This could rival Monty Python.
Is that a Parsnip I see before me?
Nay, Tis an off white carrot methinks!
Is it a dead Carrot then?
When is a carrot not a carrot?
When it thinks it is a parsnip!
Enough already, my brian hurts.

Beyond words

Beyond words
The benifits of a university educashun.
Haddock.
-
My school waz
aproved aprroovd aprovedd approoved was very good
-
I am just wondering where I went wrong, I just googled a guy I was at university with and shared a flat, his not worth is now over 2 million!
-
Friend of mine from school, who I have lost touch with, is now a merchant banker and lived in London last I hear from him - not even going to think what he is worth..
I know its not worth very much but you can add my friendship to your monetary value - that might add on an extra 20 or 30 pence.
-
Trial run with figure and parsnip
-
Still on the rum I see.
-
Yes doubles
-
Trial run with Mr Grumpy and his hand - hohohoho
-
Only doubles? Is that bottles? 😁😁😁
-
Correct
-
Some more small work done on the 2 figures
-
Looking bright!
-
Just wait for the shirt hohoho
-
Can't wait!
-
Have done he rings on the back of Zak's jacket - thought about gold but decided it would have to be BRASS - hohohohoho
-
In my teenage, motorcycling days I did have a leather jacket with brass studs in it, and ZAK on the back!
-
What colour did you do the "ZAK"
-
What colour did you do the "ZAK"
Brass studs.
-
More work done on Zaks jacket
-
Looks good.
-
Zak now fitted to the base - just needs a little filler on his right arm joint and then a repaint job.
-
A start made on my shirt also showing what it should end up looking like - we shall see - might be over painted plain blue in the end ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
He looks very lonely all on his own, poor Zak!
-
Don't worry his friend will be with him soon - to take the mick out of him as normal - hohhoho
-
Looking forward to its completion.
-
Some Flory wash added to Zak
-
Looking a bit down in the mouth - careful now!
-
Well he would wouldn't he - he only has a small parsnip ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Back to a little work on "Garden Wars" parsnip fitted next job some more work on my shirt and then a flory wash on the parsnip winner - hohhoho
-
Those are very suspicious leaves for a parsnip, and I look sadder than ever.
-
Looking very nice Martin.
-
Shirt painted and a coat of pledge - when dry will give a flory wash
-
Very colourful and looks like one of your shirts!
-
Steady handwork Msea.
Nice work.
Cheers,
Kevin
