You have already seen the first, a Panzer II.
Here it is with some figures.
This is Bolt Action, from Warlord Games.
-
Here is a machine gun.
-
The tank and figures look good. More to come I presume?
-
Mortar and crew.
-
Good detail.
-
They look good.
Bob c
-
88mm Flak 37 and crew.
-
In the set you get 6 frets each with 6 soldiers bodies, to these you add different arms, legs and weapons and packs. So a total of 36 altogether.
So here are all thirty six, all slightly different.
Then a closer up view of a dozen of them.
-
Are private armies allowed in Bempton?
-
He must have it Francis to go with his tank army - have you not felt the earth tilting towards Bempton - hohohoho
-
Some of 'em look very well fed!!
-
Are private armies allowed in Bempton?
The local militia, preparing for UDI for Yorkshire.
-
Some of 'em look very well fed!!
Its all those potatoes and vegetables from the allotment.
-

Is that you or the model soldiers - hohohohho
-
Both of course.
-
You can tell they are wargaming figures, they are all squat and kind if well built. I really like the look of them and it makes me want to wargame again.... not another hobby!!
Great paint job Zak.
Andy.

Thanks Andy.

Here is the Panzer III Ausf J (early), coat of clear and
transfers /decals / stickers applied.
The wheels are all in one, not two wheels as it really should be. I guess for wargaming, models need to be more robust.
Still to pin wash, highlight, weather, matt varnish and a light dust with weathering powder. Not neccesarily in that order!
-
I forgot to say this is a plastic kit, as was the Flak 37.
Most of the figures were plastic.
The Flak 37, heavy machine gun and mortar crews were white metal.
I think for figures, white metal gives better definition and slimmer figures!
-
A second Panzer III, this is a late version J - longer barrel.
-
Judicious use of the hair dryer has allowed some fast progress on the tank.
-
Busy as ever Dave. All looking very good.
-
Now you need to do the British 8th army and we can have a battle...
Nice one Zak.
Andy.
-
Hi Zak,
Nice looking model.
Did you use the hairdryer to help the decals to conform, or was it to aid drying of the paint.
Bigkev

Both, and to evaporate the thinners from the pin wash. I used burnt umber for this rather than black oil paint.
-
Another nice looking tank.
Bob c
-
Will your new garage have an upstairs for storage ??????? hohohoho
-
Great looking tanks, as ever.
-
Here is the later J version,
-
Impressive models Dave with a good level of detail for the scale.
-
couldn't agree more.
Bob c
-
Hi Zak,
Excellent again and at such speed.
Impressive.
Cheers,
Bigkev
-
Continuing with this scale.
This is a BMW motorcycle combination from Rubicon Models.
It says use ABS cement, after a trial on some scrap. Tamiya thin works well as does EMA Plastic Weld.
On line suggests Tamiya or superglue.
-
Anothe panzerarmee in the making.
-
Yes, these are quite small and have quite a few parts.
Built and size comparison with1/35th, quite a difference.
-
How cruel photographs are!
-
Looks pretty good to me.
-
Looks good to me
-
Looks good to me too
Bigkev
-
Many thanks gentlemen, it looks better normal size than blown up.
-
Now on a small base.
-
Still looks good.
-
Small is beautiful......
Bigkev
-
Here is another one, just in case of accidents.
-
Small is beautiful......
Bigkev
I'm living proof of that!!

Rubicon Models Opel Blitz truck.
-
Fine result there Dave. That basic model looks like it could be used for a myriad of applications both military and commercial.
-
Yes, it would convert well, I think they do different versions.
-
Wow! you really are going for the full army. They all look fantastic.
I like the side cars, always the first casualties in the old war films.
Andy.
-
Well that model came out of nowhere.
-
Fantastic stuff, all in no time flat!
-
Another great model!!
-
Here are the enemy, I have been messing with these while battling with the 1:35 Panzer IV.
Warlord Games - Bolt Action - 8th Army, a couple of Universal (Bren) Carriers and crew.
One is a MKI, the other a MkII.
The vehicles are plastic kits, the crew are a mixture of plastic and white metal.
They still need some weathering applied.
-
They look pretty good. Again out of nowhere!
-
Did you build these before breakfast?
-
Did you build these before breakfast?
Between breakfast and coffee, no seriously 4 days on and off.
-
But when did you build the other 73 that you have not show us on the web page and are keeping quiet about - hohohoho
-
I have been painting some 8th Army soldiers as well.
The ruler is to give you an idea of the size - 28mm believe it or not!
-
The sculpting on that Bren gunner is excellent, he really looks like he's pilling it tight into his shoulder.
DOWN, TEST and ADJUST!!!
Great modelling Dave.
Andy.
-
Not bad detail on the figures. Excellent.

I have no live rounds or empty cases in my possession, sir!
-
Or parts there of...
-
Vickers machine gun team.
3" Mortar team
-
How many parts do each figure have?
-
The figures are white metal for the machine gun and mortar crew, they are one piece, the plastic ones have 5 or 6 pieces. The machine gun is two parts white metal and so is the mortar.
-
Here are the next two additions to the 8th Army.
25pdr Light Artillery gun with 3 crew.
6pdr Antitank gun and 3 crew.
-
Is that the Censor's fingers coming over the lens? Pity this lot's going to end up in a box in the attic and no-else will see it. Great work.

I may sell them on at some stage.
-
Good looking models Dave.
-
Thanks Chris.
Here are some Perry Miniatures Afrika Korps.
Not so like caricatures as the Bolt Action ones.
-
These are excellent.
Bob c
-
They look good.
-
This is from Italeri, M3 Stuart as used by the 8th Army in the Western Desert.
Produced in conjunction with Warlord Games.
Some weathering still needed here and there.
Bought from Croppers, who by the way has had the virus.
-
The stuart is great!
-
It looks great.

Hope Mr Cropper is OK.
Great looking tank.

More Desert Rats, this is a Jeep and Chevrolet from Rubicon models.
Bothe will be finished as a Long Range Desert Group, here they have been painted, some weathering, pin washes and dry brushing.
I need to add the crews and loads.
-
They look pretty good. How many parts to each?
-
Here are scans of the parts diagrams, too much effort to count them.
The first is for the Jeep.
Other is the Chevrolet.
-
Quite a few parts. I did build the Matchbox pair of these in 1/72nd.
-

Me too, many years ago.
-
I've always like the look of the Chevrolet and it's carried over a bit into the PT Cruiser.
-
Jeep just about competed.
-
How many models have you finished this week ????????
-

If I told you I would have to kill you.
-
Thank you for that 007
-
Chevrolet also finished, maybe a little more weathering to show the ravages of desert winds and weather?
-
Yes, it looks as if just come out of the garage.
Very nice models Dave.

Here are some more 1/56, though technically they would be described as 28mm figures.
These are from Warlord Games, under the Banner of "Black Powder".
They are white metal and have 2 or so parts per figues -heads and flags really.
The Flags were home made and this is the 15 Regiment of Foot, also known as The East Yorkshire Regiment. The regiment was originally formed in 1685.
They served in the West Indies during the Napoleonic Wars. They were involved with the invasion of Martinique and Guadeloupe against the French.
-
Some weathering on the Chevrolet.
-
How did you make the flags - instructions PLEASE
-
How did you make the flags - instructions PLEASE
Downloaded the background and photoshopped/ used paint to add the rest.
Printed on paper, reversed and printed again.
-
Very good.
The weathering on the chevrolet is excellent.
-
Thank you Zak you are a mine of information.
-
Well done!
-
More useful tips, thanks.
-
The 15th Regiment of Foot so far.
-
Looking good. There are more to come?
-
Looking good. There are more to come?
Sorry yes!
-
These are really good, great work. Thanks also for introducing us to these, I would probably have passed them by without a second glance but they bridge the gap between "regular modellers'" scales nicely and would work well in a forced perspective vignette.
-
28mm!?, I'm struggling with54! Well done
-
Looking good. There are more to come?
Sorry yes!
Don't be. Looking forward to what is to come.
-
Rifleman firing and reloading, 12 in all.
-
They look good Dave. Any cavalry? Or are you leaving that upto Howard?
-
When do you start war gaming ???????

MISERY, no doubt!
-
Grumpy yes Misery never
-
It seems that whenever I struggle to model, I revert to painting soldiers, I last did some of these in 2010 and then sold them, they were from Victrix.
Here is the 15th Regiment of Foot ready for battle against the French in the West Indies, all they need is an enemy.
These are from Warlord Games and Perry Miniatures.

Shall I get a zombie army ready to give you battle ???????? YoHoHo

Good painting. Their enemy next then?
Without zombies.

It's funny how figure painting can be relaxing times. Must be reverse psychology?
