New Venue
« on: January 15, 2015, 10:07:35 AM »
Well, great I thought.
The new venue at Cass Hall was excellent, the lighting and facilities were superb.

In our 20th year we can look forward to a great new start.

I think we forgot to say thanks to Christine for doing the refreshments.

23  people attended, great stuff, long may it continue.

Hello, remember me?  Despite my time at the modelling bench being measurable in minutes rather than hours - it seems like I've JUST sat down when DCOS comes in to interrupt me with something of little consequence, Poppy want help with her homework or the dogs need feeding - that's no excuse for not visiting the site just for the chat.

So, new venue eh?  Yes, it worked for me.  It certainly has everything we NEED, if not everything all of us would WANT.  I feel that the slightly more formal set up would benefit us too as it may allow us to focus on the subject of modelling when we are called to order which is what we are all about.  There will be time for socialising too of course and the idea of the odd meeting being just for that purpose rather than modelling sounds great.

A by product of course is the opportunity to swell the coffers slightly from the admission fee and the sale of stuff such as books, kits, films that members want to donate to club funds; there is much more space to display these goods effectively and, at the risk of sounding like I want to turn it into a car-boot sale, I have some stuff to get shut of which I will bring along to a future meeting.

A real positive start to what I hope will continue to be a landmark year for the club.  So, back to the bench then....?

Brilliant venue, lighting, toilets, catering facilities, warm,  parking, seating and tables, what more could we need. Credit to Kevin & co for finding it. Onwards and upwards chaps.

Hi Zak, Wizzel, Haddock and others,

Thankyou for the kind comments about our new venue, I hoped you would like it. I know for some it is now further to travel, but the vast improvement in amenities I hope counteract these problems.

We still will need to tweak how we do things regarding layout, tea rota's, collecting monies, but I think that we have got off on the right start and we can only get better.

Most of the praise for the venue should go to Andy, whose involvement has helped us secure this great venue at a great price.

Christine enjoyed the night, and would like to thank Cyril and John Cook for their assistance in collecting cups and saucers and doing the washing up. Also thanks to John C for the buns he brought along for the benefit of all.

Cheers,

Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

All the better for me not being in it eh?  A lucky shot, it was the only one where everyone was looking.  The last one I took too, so listening to you lot moan, "GET ON WITH IT" was worth the wait  :)

I don't like Cass Hall - the lighting is so good it shows how bad a modeler I am.
But I will never improve, so we might as well have an excellent new room that is all we could ask for.
If Neil is at the next meeting - we can test the acoustics and the noise level the room can take (sorry Neil )

My problem was the rain, I did not cover my models and they ended up with a strange pattern of rain drops on them. Some members thought that I had spend hours getting the random swirls on the models!
They have been removed now.

Ah....................

As the song goes ' One drop of rain from your window pane.........................'

At least members thought they were intentional, a future weathering technique?
