There were 24 members and 2 guests present.

Well done and keep modelling.

Modelling Projects / The fault of Cyril - Iveco / Fiat 190.38 Special
« on: December 04, 2013, 04:10:09 PM »
Cyril started building trucks and I just thought I would have to have a go, something that I have never done before.
This is an Italeri 1:24 Ivceco 190-38 special.
I have added some hydraulic, fuel and air lines, and the odd bit of extra detail.
A nice kit but, boy are they big.
Here are a few pictures during the construction.
I did not have the courage to go for right hand drive - perhaps the next one.

Bought this in the flea market in Pickering for £3.00 - real bargain I thought. As far as I could see only the gear stick was missing.
Lots of cleaning up and badly fitting parts, but hey - it is a British sports car, so what do you want?
All went well, but towards the final assembly I had to do some major surgery and then some repainting and so on.
I used the chrome parts as supplied, I think I should have stripped and then repainted them.
Well here is the final car, warts and all.
It did nearly end up in the bin, but I did persevere.
Thinking about it, it may have been 1:25?
Doesn't anyone else do any modelling??????????

Modelling Projects / Airfix 1:72 Air Sea Rescue Launch
« on: November 21, 2013, 08:11:16 AM »
I attempted a Tony Beesting here.
I tried to model the sea, slightly inshore as the Launch picks up a survivor from a downed aircraft.
Enjoyed building the model and messing about with the sea.
I used DAS modelling clay, paint and varnish.
I found it very difficult to capture the effect of sea and now hold Tony in even higher regard than I did before (Ha, Ha believe what you like!).

Modelling Projects / 1:16 MiniArt Ernst Udet, WW1 Flying Ace
« on: November 02, 2013, 11:21:50 AM »
Another of those MiniArt figures that I have in my stash.
I have included his first aircraft with him.
It is a :72 Fokker EIII.
I already had the Fokker so it was quite a short build.

The figure was undercoated with spray can car acrylics and then painted/airbrushed with Vallejo Model Air and Model colour. I did quite a lot of dry brushing and messing about once the basic colours were done.

I seem to be on a roll at the moment. The kits are keeping me amused and maybe out of mischief for a while.
Cheers

These little kits sell for around £1.99 each or less if you are lucky.
I think they are great little kits and produce quite a nice little model at the end of the day.
I am just on with a Corsair and a Dauntless.

General Discussion / Where are you all???
« on: October 29, 2013, 07:35:45 AM »
Well I'm back from the Canadian outback.
Where are all the models and banter?
Are you all asleep?
Looks like you need a wake up call.
I thought that we had a steering group looking at the website - well get steering will you.
If this is our window on the world it need replacing or a good wash and brush up.
Come on, you must all be out there doing something!

On a slightly different note, it was really nice to see lots of you while I was at the helm in Mr Cropper's Emporium.
I visited the new model shop on Beverley Road in Hull. Nice people, limited stock. Phil was on duty the day I called and was having till trouble, I did manage to help him out.
