Modelling Projects / Casting
« on: November 11, 2014, 06:51:57 PM »
If you were at Telford you may have noticed that I dug deep and purchased a resin casting starter set.
I was going to make a two part mould but chickened out. So here is my first efforts at casting a wheel from a simple one part mould.
Maybe a two part next time.
The photo shows the mould and the casting.

General Discussion / IPMS Scale Model World 2014
« on: November 10, 2014, 11:18:48 AM »
We all had an excellent weekend at Telford , bought and saw lots of stuff.
Lots of our club in attendance, apologies if I miss anyone out.
Myself, Kevin, Andy, Roger, Adrian, Neil, Trevor, Martin, Gerry, John C, Peter D, John and Janice(they come as a pair).

Renewed friendships and made some enemies, but the IPMS has moved along and I was very impressed in general with them. The club stand looked good.

Kevin won a silver award for his Focke Wulf 190, and John C. got a bronze for his Wright Cyclone engine. When you consider that there were some of the best models in Europe on display they did really well.
I have included some photos for you as well

Our club as a whole won a trophy from SAMI magazine for the best IPMS show in 2014, this was presented at the show. This is for our show at Driffield. I must congratulate all our members for the hard work at our show and praise in particular must go to Kevin for all his hard work.

Some drank and ate too much, some felt ill, some just never shut up. I am sure you may recognise some from the description there.
Well done to the club for a great weekend.

Modelling Projects / Modelling World War 1 continued
« on: October 27, 2014, 09:35:11 PM »
I am having trouble uploading image, I thought I would try a new topic to see if it worked.
I still get the same message, that the uploader is full?

Modelling Projects / Two can play at that game!
« on: October 22, 2014, 12:40:19 PM »
I have started on a model for the competition at the November meeting.
The subject will be" birds".
So after putting my thinking cap on I came up with a model.
Some research was required and then onto the model.
Decals - sorry transfer were not available and  so I have made my own.
No griping or grousing please.  ;)

Yes, side tracked again I am afraid.
Sorry, its an Airfix Mk1 Spitfire in 1/72 scale.
At least I am doing some modelling again.

Modelling Projects / 1/100 Zvezda Skipper Riley from Planes Movie
« on: May 21, 2014, 01:19:40 PM »
Built this for my grandson who is a big "Cars" and "Planes" fan.
I think the scale may be wrong though.

General Discussion / SWORD AND LANCE
« on: April 13, 2014, 08:12:23 AM »
:)
I had an excellent day at this model show, nice to see Geoff, Tony W, Andy, Kevin, Cyril, Adrian, Roger and Tony B as well. Lots of nice models and banter of course.
Tony B won a bronze award in the competition for the USS Maryland in 1:700 scale and so did I for my 1/35 WW1 Gun Carrier.
Kevin, Chris, Cyril and yours truly had a nice meal on the way home.

Modelling Projects / Modelling World War 1
« on: March 01, 2014, 08:24:51 AM »
I have written the odd article for the newsletter regarding this.
My interest has been awakened, maybe rekindled by the year 2014.
Dave will be publishing my articles (I hope!) in future newsletters, and so I thought that I would start a thread here.
At the moment I am on with armour and those of you who attended the Huddersfield show may have noticed that I bought some 1:72nd kits - more of those perhaps later.
At the moment 1:35 is the scale I am mostly to be seen in.
I was rifling through some old stuff and came across this rail related model from many years ago - certainly before digital cameras as they were old photos and the article looked as though it had been written on a word processor
This model is in 1:32 scale, this was due to the fact that I used the Airfix Multi-pose figures and hacked, chopped and remodelled them to be First World war Soldiers.
It started as a 12 inch square model of a trench scene and grew into a 6 ft. x 1ft 4inch monster, I no longer have this railway, it got damaged on the loft and is now in that great modelling black hole.

Modelling Projects / Airfix 1/48 scale kits
« on: January 28, 2014, 01:29:52 PM »
Club members will already know that I have built the Land Rovers, the Jackal and Coyotes as well as the soldiers.
I am at present working on the Warrior and it looks like an excellent kit.
I have almost completed the Quad bikes and again I must congratulate Airfix, these are pretty good kits.
I have retro fitted the drivers etc. to the Jackal.
I will try to upload some photos once they are completed.

Modelling Projects / A Christmas Present from the USA
« on: January 21, 2014, 09:00:40 AM »
A present from my son and family.
He bought me this as it represented the typical USA vehicle - his words not mine.
In Utah they all seem to drive huge pick up trucks - a lot of Toyota Tundras.
Here is a Revell" Roth 56 Ford Pick-Up".
It is 1:25 scale, its an old kit with all the associated problems.
The transfers caused a few problems and I did resort to hand painting.
Lots of cutting, filing and filling required.
Once again, we need more people posting on the website.

My venture into truck modelling continues with this Fire Ladder, this may not make it to the club as it is a little large and fragile - I have already dropped it once.
Not that happy with the paint job - I think 1/24 may be a step too far and then there is always the question - "Where will I put it?". helpful suggestions on a postcard please.
