Being a kit of few parts Bob I thought it would be, but you know me.....
So now it was time to apply the nearly 60 year old decals. As ever Kleer was used for the gloss finish with a second coat added where I thought it might need it. The decals had also previously been treated to a coat of Kleer just in case they decided to crack. Luckily none did and they were laid down on Micro Set and Sol. The only one that had to be worked was the starboard side roundel and numbers, this one decided to curl but was easily straightened out with Micro Set. The black stripe running down from the cockpit is not included in the kit so this was sourced from spares. It's the border stripe from a previous set of decals so another reason not to throw anything away. The kit paint guide shows the a/c serial number under the Suez stripes but again these are not included in the kit. BlackSheep has kindly sourced some for me and these will be applied once obtained. The kit paint guide is for Sqdn Leader Peter Carmichael's plane that shot down a Mig 15 in the Korean War. As I couldn't be bothered (honesty here) with masking and painting the Suez stripes I'm finishing it as it would be on HMS Ocean prior to the stripes being added.
