For the April competition have decided the background story to this model and how to go about making it ( Neil thinks the background story is strange and wonders what I will do to one of his beloved Spitfires - hohohho)
First coat of humbrol aluminium on the body parts - when dry will add some chipping medium and the camouflage colours to the bits, then remove most of them - then its on with the build ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
If anybody has a spare decal/transfer of 1/72 scale roundels and the letters "U and F" and the number "2" please let me know.
-
I probably have some roundels, but they may not be correct. I know as much about these things as you.
I was taken to task by our leader for my incorrect camouflage on the last one I built.
-
Thanks Zak they would be great - just wait till Neil sees what I will do to his beloved Spitfire - ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
I have some roundels. What size are the letters and number?
-
Neil will give you the answer to within 1/100mm - to me about 3 or 4 mm high
-
I have just made some decals for mine
-
Is that the correct camouflage and those decals will never pas muster with Neil - hohoho - other than that it looks good
-
Chipping fluid and top colour added - now off for a coffee and then start removing most of the colour - -- hohohho - sorry Neil
-
I have just made some decals for mine
Look digital to me.
-
Paint removed -- will walk away and then look again to see if it needs more removing.

No, hand painted on some decal sheet.
-
Wings fitted to the main body - hohohho - how do you think it will fly Neil ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I think the ground is looking good.
I never picked one up on Wednesday night but found a spitfire in the loft, I?ll make that one if nobody minds.

I have some roundels, I'll bring them along next meeting.
Haddock.

What can I say Martin?
-
Its more, what will Neil say ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
A start made on the base - not a lot of runway to get it airborne - hohohho - :( :( :( :(
-
A bit of clour on he base, grass to be added later, main spitfire body tested in place - next job some wood bars and tarpaulins to be added at the back of the body.
-
Oh dear! Neil will have a fit!
-

You have to get your pleasures where and when you can - poor Neil - hohohhohoho ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Oh dear! Neil will have a fit!
I think you'll be right. Martin knows no bounds.
-
I am not trying to hijack your thread but here is mine in Turkish Airforce livery.
Home made decals.
-
Hijack away as much as you like
Looks good will Neil approve ::) ::) ::) ::) is the pattern correct are the decals the correct size - hohohohho
-
Apparently the Turks ordered 15 Mk1a Spitfires, I think they got 3, only one flew.
Decals may not be the right size.
-
Spiffin' that!!
Haddock.
-
Static grass added to the base and support bars for the tarpaulins to give them shape and support.
-
Very interesting Martin.
Good model Dave.
-
Some undercoat and rust on the weights and corrugated sheets to be used to hold the tarpaulins down. All fitted in place and "Spitfire Bills House" sign added to the tail plane.
-
i think you're gonna be in a lot of trouble with this one, lol!!!
-
Will you add some figures?
Waht an imagination you have, very worrying!
-
Yes its strange what comes out of my head isn't it - hohoho
Figure to be added and a fire with boiling pot of water for Spitfire Bills tea ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Maybe Bill should be breathing fire and then he could be Spit-Fire Bill and his mate Hurricane Neil.
-
Maybe we should have named the competition "And now for something completely different".
You have avery strange mind Martin.
-
Never seen a spitfire like that before, there are times I wish I was in your world.

-
Well this is a blast from the past - I used to love Stan Catchpol's articles in the magazine - before anybody asks this collection is from 1983.
Spitfire Bill now has a seat and a fire - kettle and surround still to come
-
I have a copy of that publication, always useful.

Never seen it!
-
You youngster Chris - hohohohho
Spitfire Bill now happy, sitting by his fire with his pot of water for his tea on and a ladder so he can climb up to the entrance to his house.
-
No comments from Bill yet.
-
Not yet - think he is speechless - hohohhohohohoho
-
Does Stan Catchpoll's book have a chapter on the use of hallucinogenics!!!!!
-
Does Stan Catchpoll's book have a chapter on the use of hallucinogenics!!!!!
Apparently they are highly recommended!
-
This will keep Neil happy - hohohhoho - the next spitfire is going together and I think it looks like what Neil would say - is a spitfire.
Do you think it will stay like this ;D ;D ;D ;D ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
I doubt that very much.
That is quick work!
-
It'll probably end up with pink camouflage. That's assuming it continues to look like a spitfire.
-
Bit more work done - does it still look like a spitfire Chris ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
A "high chair" made for spitfire Bill, he can bring his own bib hohohohoho
-
Interesting version Martin.
-
Still recognisable with the wings!
-

Probably get a Brownie Point from Neil if you paint it pink, some actually were.
Watch with interest.

-
Base made and painted black on the outside - the cutouts are so the "spitfire" will sit at an angle , not flat.
-
Sorry Neil, and Martin. mine has become a drone for the Maschinen Krieger World.
-
Who would have guessed that a spitfire could be so versatile - wonder who else (if any) have done one as a spitfire or changed it >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
Mine now has a rudder, so can go in the correct direction - hohohohho
-
Sail having first coat of coffee stain
-
You two know how to upset Neil. Different. Can't wait until the competition night.
-
A bit more wok done on mine.
-
Looking good Dave.
-
Great love the wing tips - but what will Neil say
-
Great love the wing tips - but what will Neil say
Do I really care? "My beloved Spitfire - what have you done!"
-
You two will have R.J. Mitchell spinning in his grave. Perhaps I shouldn't have said that as it will give MSea another idea!!!!!

That could be interesting.
-
Now what box did I put that small motor in ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
I have a spare motor.
-
Don't encourage him, he's daft enough as it is!!!
-
Thank you all - sail now added to the spitfire
-
The "spitship" now fastened to the base - hohohhoho - eat your heart out Neil ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Very novel Martin.
-
That's a good idea Chris - I could have made it into a book - hohhohoho
-
But Martin, it is still recognizable as a Spitfire - not like you at all!
-
Its like the wolf in Red Ridding Hood - enough to know what it is (eyes and teeth etc ) - the spitfire will then wind Neil up even more - hohohhoho
-
Pilot added and some whitetops painted on the sea.
-
Lost for words!!
-
Well that's a first - hohohhoho - thought you would like a "Spitship" , I think its an improvement on Bill and Neils original models they both make - even bigger hohoho
-
More rigging and the steering wires added
-
Lost for words!!
I agree.
-
My granddaughter just built one, nice colour scheme and free run of the decal spare box.
Sorry Neil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Tell her I think its great and a BIG improvement on the ones that are produced by club members - hohohohhoho - sorry Neil
-
Pretty good. Don't let Neil see it!
-
Looks good, I?d show Neil and tell him that?s what a spitfire should look like.
