Latest project folks. Got the kit from Hobby-craft a few years ago, less than £50, since then I've added wood decks and some etched brass.
The decks are from Wood Hunter and are 0.25mm thick including the peel off backing film which takes up about half the thickness so quite thin.
The brass is from Eduard. Some of it won't get used for all sorts of reasons.
Started a few days ago whilst waiting for stuff to dry on HMS Kent. Mainly test fitting stuff and sorting a build sequence.

You're building at quite a rate Tony. You'll be catching up with Dave.
-
No chance.
-
if we ALL put our models made under Haddocks name we still would not match the number of models Zak makes !!!!!

I think you are right Martin.
-
I don't how he does it. I think I'm doing well getting two out at a time. Hmm, must try harder!!!
Looking forward to seeing this build progress and wonder what gems of inspiration are around the corner.
-
You're a hero! all that brass looks absolutely frightening!
-
I seem to remember in engineering that big problems are usually lots of little ones joined together.
If you can knock the little one down one at a time, you usually get there in the end.
I keep telling myself this.
Haddock.
-
Yeah! OK!
Good Luck!
-
Would you like to run the country Haddock?
A man of your calibre and common sense are definate requirements for the job!
Watch out Boris!, there's a new contender on the block!!
As always, I look forward to the build in the hands of the 'Master'
Watching......

Water-lined and primed, ready for paint.
I always breath a sigh of relief when crane jibs are done!
Haddock.
-
Never ceases to amaze me when you do the jibs. If I did them there'd be glue showing all over. Yes I know, I must try harder!!!
-
Its the same with me Chis - I don't know how he does it.
-
How on Earth....???? I would have no chance!
Absolutely amazing

I'm lost for words.
What skill....

Starboard side camo done, port side started, not without it's problems.

Looking good, did you mask or is it free-hand?
-
Nice paint job.

Nice paint job.
VERY NICE!!

All masked.
Haddock.
-
Masked or free hand another excellent paint job.
-
Nice camouflage.
-
Looking good, did you mask or is it free-hand?
All masked.
Haddock.
Here's some masks for the port side.
Bit blurred, sorry.
-
Nearly there, just a few splodges of paint to add.
Not a pretty pattern is it?
Haddock.
-
Some black and white pics, do I really want to do this to my paint job?
-
No, just be fresh out of the yard.

Are the masks made of brass?

No, we all like 'Haddockised' look, keep it as the rest of your models.
In keeping with excellent in scale look.

The masks are Tamiya masking paper, just Tamiya tape on a paper backing, east to manipulate.

That's quite a complex camo scheme. great skills.
Andy.

Another gem of a tip. Thanks.
-
Looking very good as always Tony.
-
Another gem of a tip. Thanks.
Thanks from me as well!

A - Ha Mr. Haddock,
I passed your address this afternoon, and spotted the top of yor head bent over the latest creation.
I expect an update from you soon and an indication of the sun rays on your bonce!
Nice to see you 'Plasticking'
Cheers,
Bigkev

Progress seems slow although there are lots of small sub-assy's and other stuff to deal with.
You aircraft chaps will be pleased to know there's a nice Walrus in the kit.
The rest of the pictures probably speak for themselves.
Haddock.
-
Bit more.
-
as always, excellent, painstaking work.
-
Excellent as always
-
You've been busy Tony.

Just lovely work.

Somethings are sent to try us.
Thought it was time to check the fit of the cranes, now I've made a hinge.
As you can see, they don't fit, they should drop onto the crutch, obviously they don't.
If you look at the 2nd pic you can see why, the brass jibs aren't the same as the plastic ones, by a considerable amount.
You can buy the etched brass in two lots, the first is "railings and cranes", the second is "other stuff"
such as radar, lots of surface detail, most of it not needed and other bits and bobs.
The first lot is a stand alone set, so if you don't want to go to town, it will be fine. However, the little brass bracket come with the second lot so you can fall into the trap as I have just done.
I find this annoying, these things aren't cheap. I think we have a right to expect some sort of quality control.
Good job it's only a hobby.
-
Now it fits. A good razor-saw is worth it's weight in gold.
Haddock.
Rant over.
-
The joys of modelling, as usual.
Great recovery work though.

Now another AKA, 'Houndini Haddock'

Excellent work Tony.
-
Thanks guys.
Not much is impossible, it's just irritating.
The Tamiya kit is very nice in spite of it's age and Eduard have a reputation
for nice brass, they just don't seem to be talking to each other in this instance.
There seem to be lots of other little niggles.
Haddock.
-
Fantastic as ever, well done,
-
Wood decks laid, bit bright for my liking.

The deck looks ace.
Andy.
-
Wood decks - when done correctly they are excellent - when done $%$£ they detract from the model.
Now which do I think you will do - hohohoho
-
Decking looks excellent Tony.

As a talented and innovative modeller (I can't believe I wrote that) can't you tone them down?
-
I intend to, maybe.
-
Bit more paint sloshed on, slow process.
Haddock.

Been eating mint sauce?
The bottle behind your ship.

Been eating mint sauce?
The bottle behind your ship.
Very observant of you!!
-
Very nice Tony. Possibly even with the mint sauce.
-
Loved how you said 'sloshed on'. Even doing that you get great finishes.
-
Looks great again!
-
Some progress made.
Now seems a good time to put it on one side and do a bit to HMS Roberts.
Haddock.
-
Wow! Looking excellent Tony.
-
Hi Haddock,
Excellent work as always.

-
Just fished this out of the cupboard where it's lain since October when I fancied doing
something else for a break and got carried away.
Remembering where I was is the first job, it all looks rather daunting now.
Bit on the big side compared with submarines and destroyers. I seem to remember there
are some Corvettes knocking about somewhere as well.
Note to self, " don't try to do too much at once !!"
Haddock.
-
Hi Haddock,
That last sentence reminds me of something I have said often.
Bigkev
-
Some progress made. Rigging, some railings and cranes added.
Long way to go yet.
Need to practice taking better pictures.
Haddock.
-
Fantastic rigging there Mr Haddock.
-
The photos look good to me as does the model.
-
Bit more stuff added. I can see some brass that needs a clout to straighten it out.
Haddock.
-
Outstanding detail Mr Haddock.
-
Superb as always.
Don't cloy it too hard.
-
Exquisite detail.
-
how do you do it ???????
-
Another masterpiece!!!!
-
Another one ready for a base and some water.
At twenty five and a half inches long it's not the easiest thing to photograph.
Thought it best to take lots and hope for the best.
Here's the result.
Haddock.
-
Oops! One more.
-
I have seen less convincing photos of the proper ship -- so excellent model and photos
-
Magnificent model and photos Tony. It's always a pleasure to see your ships.
-
Another amazing model! Well done.
-
Fully agree,
I think we have run out of words to describe Haddock's skill.
