Another small panzer, the backbone of the Wehrmacht in the 1930's.
-
Gentle persuasion on the hull sides to get them to fit correctly.
-
You seem to be enjoying the tank era for models - when you have made them ALL what will be the next thing ???????

Who knows?
Once we get our new garage, maybe a model railway?
-
Joy, individual track links.
-
I deal with the individual links by sticking batches of 10 together and then applying them to the tank.
I do the putting together of the links on the non-sticky side of double sided Sellotape - they don't stick to it.
The picture should help.
-
These tracks look like hard work to me.

These tracks look like hard work to me.
They went together surprisingly quickly.
-
Undercoated.
No, I haven't spent all day and night modelling.
Walked from Flamborough to Danes Dyke and back this afternoon.
In preparation for a new garage we took a load of rubbish to the tip this morning.
I have probably done about 3 hours modelling today.
-
Painted in Panzer Grey - one of my favourite colours.
Pin washes applied to rivets and raised detail, I now need to wait for the oil paint to cure.
Patience, what a virtue, overrated maybe.
-
Patience - bah I want it NOW - hohohohoho
-
I decided to add a few extras, spare track, wheel, towing cable and a commander.
-
I like the figure - very natural pose and puts the tank into scale.

Tamiya figure actually supplied with a 38t, but reused here.

Looking good. A whole regiment then by the end of the month Dave?

Now, now, don't be like that, but, yes probably.
-
Just needs the figure adding.
-
The regiment is building quite nicely. Great model.
-
Figure painted and added to the tank.
-
Looks really good. I like the backdrop.
-
Another great model for the collection. You are going to need the book at this rate.

I have several.

Good looking tank.
Great work.
Andy.

A Nice looking tank, I start a Tamiya one of these way back in February for the May club night but never finished it.

Ready for the next meeting then Bob?
-
No rush Bob, you'll have years to finish it unfortunately!!!
-
Looks good!
-
Thanks Howard.
-
I changed the title, so that all Panzer II variants could be added here, if and when.
Here is the other Panzer II for completeness, this is the HobbyBoss Pzkpfw II Auf J (1601)
-
I think next may be a self propelled gun on the Panzer II chassis. This will be the Tamiya Wespe.
-
The Wespe had a crew of 5, presumably a driver and 4 artillery types. The Tamiya kit comes with the 4 artillery men, so I have added a spare as a driver. He is from a Dragon kit and look a bit of a bruiser when compared to the Tamiya figures. May have been a bit of a crush in the driving compartment.
-
Aka Jaws.
-
You don't want the big guy in between you and the hatch... Fire Fire!!
Good stuff Zak.
Andy.
-
The center on looks like a drum majorette - don't think much to the shinny spangly outfit ??????

He's called 'Camp Freddy'.
Andy.
-
Here is the Wespe, from the Italian Front.
I still need to add some camouflage and a bit more weathering.
The last picture shows this Wespe about to have the gun removed.
Just look at the mud.
-
The tank in the bottom left of the last photo looks like a captured British one from it's suspension. One of the Cruisers I think. You should have muddied the Wespe up like the photo but still a great looking model.

I may yet do that, I will have to but a half track with a crane on the back for a diorama.
-
Looking great Dave. Your idea of a diorama from the photo should be good.

Hi Zak,
I seem to recall you have re-created the photographic scene before on differing models. A great skill to have.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Here is the next one, this is the Tamiya Ausf F/G, an old kit but I will add to the variants, this comes with some Africa Korps figures as well, not bad for £7.99. Elastic band tracks though.
-
Hi Zak,
I've made one of these way back.
A nice little kit for the time, though probably not quite the finesse of todays examples, such as rubber tracks then as opposed the track and link of today.
Never mind, I'm sure in your hands it will look great, in about 30 hours or so......
Bigkev
-
Like you, I built one may years ago, I will try to make a better job of this one.
Why they label it F/G I have no idea?
The G had a completely different wheel arrangement.
The F was the final model of the normal II series and 524 were produced from 1941-1942.
A lot of the delayed production was used as a chassis to mount various guns on.
The Tamiya sheet says it had a crew of 5 - wrong, it was three surely.
As far as I can make out this was first produced in 1971, the version I have actually has an opening for a switch and a place for batteries.
Considering the age the parts are crisp, they do feel a bit clunky compared to more modern offerings.

Good looking vehicle. Well done.
Andy.

This is a really easy build, here it is stickered and painted, awaiting other effects when it dries.
Figures are built and undercoated.
-
That was fast. Have you slept Dave?
-
Do we now have to refer to you as 'General der Panzertruppen'? The collection is coming along nicely.

Obergruppenfuhrer Smitt please.

Ja mein fuhrer

Hi Zak,
Will you be bringing your Diamond encrusted baton, when we get chance to meet up again??

Here it is complete, figures still to paint.

Das is Gut.

-
Is it a Nashorn?
Bigkev

I wish, I have just about given up alcohol, but the magic mushrooms are great.

Is it a Hummel?
Bigkev

Bigkev
Sorry no, not as good at the tanks as the aircraft I see, or are you just playing coy?

Coy? ..... Me!
No, better on Aircraft than tanks I admit.
But I'll still have a go.
Bigkev
PS. It's a Centurion...........No, only joking

Here are the Afrika Korps figures. Research into uniforms is a minefield, they seemed to wear almost anything.
The original desert gear sent out was almost olive green but soon faded, so the uniform was a real mishmash of types/colours.
I did read somewhere that it was decreed that they were not allowed to go into battle in shorts, due to thorns and such.
I gather they even wore British shorts, as they liked them better than their own.
The pith helmets were soon discarded and cloth caps seemed the norm.

Fallow the smell of my armpit men...!
Another great model Zak,
Andy.

Typical, just lower the tone again.

But a very truthful 'lower tone'
Tankie Andy wins again.

Here is another one, it is a Panzer II B, but this is not 1/35 scale.
What scale is this one?
I may have to change the title or start another thread.
-
it looks good, 1/72/

1/56

What about 1/16
Bob c
-
1/56
Well done Francis! Correct.
-
Go on then....
Put us out of our misery, what make.
Never seen a 1/56 kit.......until now.
bigkev
-
1/56 is a scale used by wargamers, usually 28mm figures.
There are now quite a number of companies doing stuff of this scale, Rubicon Models, Warlord Games - Bolt Action.
This is a Bolt Action Panzer II, actually a resin kit.
Bought from Mighty Lancer to see me through lockdown along with some figues to paint.
So !'ll start a new thread.
-
Hi Zak,
Thanks for the information.
Have heard of them, but never seen anything built up before.
We live and learn.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Will the 1/56 scale from Mighty Lancer include any ZOMBIES ???? hohohohoho
