Then there was our honorary members - Chris and Jez!! (less said the better really)

Cheeky monkey! ;D  I actually spent more time on the B&W stand than on Stafford... mind you, I'm more of a country Member these days!

By the way, when is your next Branch meeting?

Yes zak, THE (pink) David Gilmour…. I’ve long been a modeller of 1/72nd but probably 1/48th…

So... what's the consensus regarding the BEST Stearman kit... I've wanted to build one for years - since I flew one at North Weald in fact (did I ever tell you about my trip in David Gilmour's Stearman? Pull up a sandbag...)
As this kit will be all one colour, I may save it to build on the Model Day.
Sorry Martin. I really don't like "PLAY DAYS".

Right up my street... I have several of these kits squirreled away...

Here is the next project with a change from the greys and greens. Can't decide whether to do the army version or the NASA version yet.

I know this is a very old post but I'd like to stick my oar in... I'm new here! Nice job Chris... and you beat me to it. Having seen a few in the flesh... metal, I'm a bit of a fan of Guardia di Finanza aircraft!

Finished at last. It's funny how the smallest models appear to take the longest.

Patience is a virgin... or summink like that!

Yes Haddock they have just flown past my window as well - think it will be a while to get this finished, the brass davits etc are very slow work, but as long as I am enjoying the making its OK with me.
I have never been bothered about having finished models to show people, its the actual making of the model I enjoy. That could be why I flit from model to model and put them down when the FUN/ENJOYMENT is not at full level.  BEFORE anybody take me to task for my comments - just remember its a hobby and not life or death ( that's football - hohohho)
For me it is the process as well, keeps me busy, but maybe not out of mischief!

It's all gone quiet over there...! Yep - I must be honest and say that, as pleased as I was to be invited, I was at a bit of a loss to know what to post given that I'm not building.

Apparently that's not necessarily a requirement. So, if only for the sake of 'joining in' and proving that there's a modeller in here somewhere... here are a few I built earlier. Oddly enough, they're not particularly representative of my main areas of interest!

Morning everyone...

My name's Chris and I'm an alcoholic.... ooops!

My name's Chris and I'm a non-modelling modeller. By which I mean that I used to be/intend to be/am at heart a scale plastic modeller. I'm actually hoping that, now that I've been invited to join this motley crew... errr... august band, I will be inspired to actually build something. I am in fact very involved with the hobby but circumstances have dictated that it has been quite some time (understatement) since I completed anything. I've been a bit 'nomadic' since I left Bridlington at the age of 17 to join the air force and my most prolific bout of plastic-assembling was probably during my time in Stafford, as a member of the local IPMS Branch. I am currently lodged in a foreign country (just a few miles from Chester but in Wales) so attendance at Driffield meetings may be a bit of a stretch.

Having said that, I do count several Brid and Wolds members as good friends and I always enjoy the times that we DO spend together so you never know... I visit Brid (infrequently) and I will make an effort to coincide with a meeting. I had tentative plans to locate back to East Yorkshire at some point but, as my other half has become a doting 'nanny' during the pandemic, this now seems a remote possibility. Still, never say never...

I look forward to getting to know a few more of you and, in the meantime, trying to work out where I can find the space to build a few items from my 'stash' which, if any proof were needed of my credentials, is probably larger than most of you can possibly imagine!. Anyone fancy opening a shop???

Oh, subjects of interest are varied - mainly post-WWII to present day aviation. UK and European for preference but not carved in stone. In fact, one stalled project is a boat diorama! And I take photographs, partly for a living and partly for the pleasure.

That's me for now!

Hi Chris, nice to have you as a member.
Now you can reveal all.

I guess that, instead of hijacking zak's thread, I should go and introduce myself in the General Chat section....

The Sopwith looks very nice Dave and you're definitely faster than omicron!

MSea, loved Blade Runner from the release.... It seemed to take most folk 20 years to realise it was brilliant!

Good to have you on the web site - anybody who quotes from "Blade Runner" is always welcome - hohoho
