Just to keep Haddock happy - not just one ship but two. Looked in the stash and found these 2 models - first is a 1/700 scale American destroyer, the second looks like a 1/350 scale German destroyer. ( no instructions just the kit )
The American will be run ashore in the Pacific and rusted, the German will be run ashore in Norway and rusted ( have you got the link between them yet ????? )
First job is to add a full hull at the bow for the American destroyer, so she can be sticking up out of the rocks and sand. It will also allow me to use the 1/700 scale superfine rails I have - they drove me mad last model - they bent when you just looked at them funny.
-
The bows have had several sections of plastic added to them and then sanded down to the correct shape. The third funnel shows as made on the aft funnel and drilled out on the ford one. last shot show more bits and bobs added.
-
Even more bits added - the small guns have had barrels replaced with brass.
-
Do you ever sleep?
Haddock.

Trying to be like Zak --!!!!!??????!!!!!!!
God forbid!
-
Maybe we could be twins ??????
Onto other matters - just been measuring the second model and looking on the internet - I think it is a Heller Model scale 1/400 German destroyer Z31..
Now does anybody have instructions on the build - do you have one in the loft Zak ???? If not its going to be a put together from photos of the ship on the internet.

Try the Airfix website?
Search for "instructions for heller z31 destroyer" and look under images , lots of pages of instructions there.

The superfine rails added and a coat of hull red all over the ship. Next a couple of coats of hairspray and then the ships grey and black colour scheme to spray on, then start to remove outer colour to show the red.
-
Waiting for the other ship to dry so put the German Z31 destroyer together.
Haddock will be happy its a rust free, pristine model -- oohhhh sorry Haddock forgot I have just hacked some large holes in the hull and am making it a wreak on the Norway coast -- hohohoho
-
Speechless!!!
Haddock.
-
You know me Haddock -- I can never just put a kit together - got to do something to it, even if that is make a mess.
-
Parts of the accommodation added.
-
Solid gun barrels added - not bothered about using brass tube because the barrels will be covered outside and inside with rust. Other shots show more bits and bobs and the rails added.
-
Now that I have finished putting all the rails onto the ship -- thought should have thinned down the top rails, now having to do this in place -- don't tell Haddock he would just say "you should have planned before you started" you plonker.
-
The base has had its first coat of plaster on the back wall - its going to have some more then rocks in the water line and the German destroyer placed into the rocks at an angle.
-
First coat of rust on the ship and a coat of hairspray.
-
A coat of paint, light and dark grey on the ship This has then been distressed to show the colour underneath.
-
2 palm trees made for the American destroyer up on the beach. The wire frame has now been made , so a coat of plaster to add then work on the palm fronds for the top.
-
A start made on the palm tree fronds
-
Ingenious or what?
-

Don't think so -- just you wait until you see the finished rubbish article -- but heyho its only for FUN
-
Some more rocks added for the German destroyer.
-
Base coat of dark grey on the rocks
-
Some light grey added as highlights
-
????
-
Sorry Haddock - forgot to add the photo - brain turning to mush again
-
Thought it may have been a very foggy day!

Thought it may have been a very foggy day!
A very grey day!
Matches the depression over Bempton.
-
Just to make you all laugh again at MSea stupidity - just looked at the palm tree and decided that they are much much 2 large, they would be OK for 1/350 scale but seem out of scale for the 1/700 scale American destroyer. So will cut down the trunk to half size and make some smaller fronds.
-
Tree-mendous!
-
Not what I said - now having to cut out another set of smaller palm fronds - !!!!****!!!!
-
First tree finished. The first photo shows the new smaller frond against the old larger frond. The second photo shows the tree with fronds added.
-
Trees and destroyer added to the base. Now I need some fine golden sand - sounds like a trip to Bempton to look at the beach.
-
German destroyer now has a coat of paint on the sea
-
German destroyer also has a coat of light grey paint on the hull. Most of this will be removed when it is dry.
-
Quivering in anticipation!

Quivering in anticipation!
Is that because it's cold at the moment??
Bigkev
-
A lot of the light grey removed , now for a break and then some more grey removed
-
Destroyer added to the rocks.
-
Destroyer added to the rocks.
Coming along nicely Msea.
Well Done,
Bigkev
-
Thanks Kevin
First photo is a coat of yellow on the plaster beach, in case it shows through the sand.
Second photo shows some sand being ground down and sorted into size, the finest will be used on top of the yellow for the beach.
-
First coat of sand on the beach.
-
Second layer of sand added to the beach.
-
Some more rust added to the German destroyer.
-
Both ships have now got a black frame.
The German destroyer needs a bit more rust on some of the panels. The American destroyer needs the sea lapping up to the destroyers hull.
-
Destroyers, well and truly destroyed!
Nice, envious at your imagination.

Layer of paste added for the sea. When dry will add some gloss gel.
