Whilst it's great to have a state of the art model, which fits superbly, accurate, and great precise detail. An 'older' kit has its own charm, and if you can use your skills to bring it more up to date, not a better way to learn.
I too, like the old kits, nostalgia maybe, but a different sort of satisfaction is realised with each of them I attempt.
Best thing is, there is always the older models around to buy at a great price from dealers, you just need to keep your eyes open.
