Feeling I could do with a break from Queen Elizabeth, I thought I'd open the box and have a look at the parts. Fatal mistake as you can see. Nothing is glued except the two gun emplacements and the planking plates for the three inch gun embrasures, these were removed early in her career as they were virtually useless. Note the tumble-home, very pronounced.
The detail on the hull is amazing, I'll need to be very careful not to lose it during the build. It should build into a very rigid structure, although what it will be like when "water-lined" I'm not sure. I'll have to put some stiffeners in as the two frames that give it strength attach well below the water-line so the bottom half will be removed.
All in all, it looks very promising although there's oodles of brass.I just hope it fits.
