Modelling Projects / Krupp Sturmpanzer A7V

Started this one a wee while ago so the initial posts are a catch up. The A7V Tauro kit looked to be an Everest sized challenge and far to daunting so when the superb Meng kit appeared this project kicked off.

Thanks gents. Chris much credit for the paint job is down to the quality of Tamiya paints.

Not one of my best unfortunately. It's a great kit that has been a battle all the way due entirely to my own stupidity.

Thanks Zak. It was still a work in progress at the last meeting albeit only needing a few small details and spare wheel adding which I have done today.

I'm some what surprised that even in its darkest hour the Republic would turn the Soviets for weapons.

Just out of the paint booth after a long spell on the shelf of procrastination.

I'm very impressed with this build Kev. The precision of your build and finishing is definitely bringing out the best of this kit. Really looking forward to seeing this on display at the club.

Bit more progress today. Cockpit buttoned up as far as I can go for the moment and a start made of the engine department.

Sorry to disappoint Kev this one does not feature acres of fluorescent dayglo colours. Here it is at a fly in sometime in 2014 flying out of Rangitata Island piloted by its current owner Bevan Dewes.

Now then Kev, thanks for the encouragement however the love is wearing thin as it's a slow process that's taking several filler applications to fair the canopy into the fuselage. Hopefully by the end of play today I'll be moving onto fitting the windscreen.

Much and all as I'm enjoying the Proctor III build there is quite a bit of down time waiting for filler to dry out. To fill in the down time I've settled on the new Airfix Chipmunk as a straight forward build which it is proving to be so far. I'm planning to finish it as one of the two used by the Royal Flight training Prince Philip to fly in late 1952.

The canopy continues to challenge. Masked up for trowelling on layers of filler.

Indeed, a very useful tip to reduce colour bleed, thanks for sharing this Kev.
