Dug this out of the loft to do on the next playday on Sunday.
It is the Russian aircraft carrier Minsk, commissioned in 1978 and discarded in 1992. It is an Aoshima model - no idea when or where I got it but its been waiting for quite some time to be started, next job is to find if I have any 1/700 scale rails in the stash ???
-
With helicopters on board?
-
Yes
-
I will bring you some 1/700 railings, but they will not be Japanese!

Hope nobody notices!!
-
Only YOU would notice the difference Haddock - hhohoho
-
Some work done on the ship during a lot of talking during playday11.
The last photo shows the markings on the deck, they have to be painted as no decals, but will thin them down a little.
-
I saw you trying to look hard at work today on this.
Bob c
-
You can only try and fool the people but it didn't get passed you did it Bob - hohhhohoo
-
Never seen you get so much done before!
-
Thanks for the railings Zak - have now just sent off for some etch to replace the radars etc.
Also sent for some brushes from ABC Brushes that Chris was using - lots of work and chat on the day and also cost some money - hohohhoho - but a GREAT day.
-
Good progress Martin.
-
Green deck painted - yellow stripe and white markings to do at some time
-
That green deck looks suspiciously like green felt to me!!
Are my eyes deceiving me??
Haddock.
-
Yes Haddock its Vallejo Olive Green - must be the lights in my room - hohohho
Work done on the decks - its Amaranth Red before you ask Haddock - when all dry will touch in the grey vertical surfaces
-
Aircraft carriers with grass decks, whatever next?
-
Robots with people inside them maybe ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
First coat of white on the markings, needs another coat and then some touching up on the green ( that's paint not green felt, Haddock ) ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
A start made on the Yak and Hormone air wing - are you happy now Chris - lots of filler needed even if they are only small :o :o :o :o ??? ??? ??? ???
-
Yes I am satisfied. You're steaming along with this.
-
Is that meant to be a 'dazzle' camo scheme?, lol!!!
-
More work done on the Yak and Helos
-
Windows and rotors added - a bit of touching up needed when all solid.
-
Trial run with the position of the Yak and Helos on the deck.
-
Very colourful, it must be nearly Christmas.
-
Thank you - its about as colourful as you HoHoHoHo
Its the green flock on the deck that makes it so - reminds me about the Shell tanker Opalia when she was at the jubilee gathering and the Queen came on board and they put carpet on the deck for her to walk on (I had been trying for 6months before I paid off to get a small bit of carpet for the bar area - depends on who you are I think) Have just heard from Starling models the radars are on the way and then its trying to add the rails without messing them up. :o :o :o :o :o :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
Excellent progress Martin and colourful.
-
Kamov it you're doing a grand, if colourful job!!!!
-
This will keep Haddock happy - etch brass radar set arrived from Stirling models, they are made by Flyhawk.
Brass and plastic sets shown and the close up of the replacement and original bits for the "Top Sail" radar - listen for the naughty nautical language :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
-
Plenty to keep you occupied there, you're gonna need a bigger swear box!!!
-
Happy bending!
Keep you busy while Joyce is away!
-
Well now the etch brass radars have arrived, filling in the large holes for the plastic bits. Tried priming the etch but as I spray in the garage its a bit cold/damp so will have to remove some of the primer and redo.
Also a problem with working at the moment, slipped and have a good cut above the eyebrow ( no problems with this, how could you make me look any worse -hoho) but have also damaged the thumb on right hand, you never realize how much you use it till it becomes damaged - and before anybody asks NO RUM WAS INVOLVED. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
-
Bad luck Martin. Keep going allbeit slowly.
-
See, you do need Joyce to keep you upright!
-
Thanks - I think - hohhoho
-
More nautical language no doubt? Hope you're feeling better although it's a bit late to audition for a Christmas Panto with a patch over your eye, Ah Ha........
