Sorry Haddock but I am doing another figure. I seem to be back into the type of modelling I did when I was at sea.
This one is another MiniArt 1/16 scale figure and just for Bill this one has a skirt on.
Reading up on them, the guard killed more Emperors than they protected and at the time they were classed as a byword for corruption/greed/bribery ---- it sounds just like the club committee - hohohohoho
-
I look forward to this, I have one of these!
-
Look forward to seeing this take shape.
Haddock.
-
Most of the main parts fitted together. Now who does the head look like ????????????????
-
Hi Msea,
Can't be me, he looks much more handsome than me...……
Cheers,
Bigkev

He does look a bit grumpy though, is it me?
-
I am saying NOTHING -- I can get myself into enough trouble without saying anything.
-
Like the way the mouth droops at one side, is this to hold a fag?
Haddock.
-
Thanks Haddock he now has a name, its "Maximus Cigarellus" -- they are only bits of plastic until they have a name and a back story.
-
A start made on blocking in the main colours of "Maximus" legs and uniform.
-
Here are similar ones that I built, quite a while ago. Excuse the dust!
-
Excellent -- if I can get to 20% of your level with this one I will be happy.
-
Sword scabbard drilled and cleaned out and the first coat of paint on the head and armour.
-
Some more detail added to bits and bobs.
-
Legs skirt and body added together. Also some work done on the face.
-
Eyeballs, eyeballs, eyeballs!
-
About time for the fag!
-
Well I think he has a shifty look - reminds me of somebody, but I can't put a name to him ???????
-
Shoulder plates added and also the sporran like apron.
-
Sword and dagger added -- that's gladius and pugio for you Zak.
-
Veni, Vidi, Vici.
-
Or as Julius Caesar said when he landed in Briton and was confronted by the natives "Weeny, Weedy and Weaky" ---- hohoho -- he must have landed at Bempton.
-
Verius niceus!
Haddock.
-
Right arm and sword added to Maximus. Bronze edge added to the shield.
-
I was going to make some see through doors to stop the dust monster getting at the models but this has been put on hold.
So a jig made to help produce some some individual covers for the models. The blocks and clamps hold the acrylic at 90 degrees and the tape holds the top sections together - then a bit of plastic weld -- we will see how it goes.
-
Good look with the covers!
-
Thanks Zak - all sides and top put together, next job is to clean up the edges, but I have NO metal polish so that will have to wait. Now going to add the decal to the shield.
-
I HATE DECALS its the one aspect of this hobby I don't get on with. As you can see the decal bent under itself and part was destroyed trying to get it back straight.
3 choices First remove and hand paint the shield. Second let it dry and touch up the bit that are missing Third if it was an ordinary soldier could do battle damage to the shield - but this is a praetorian guard so with best uniform on.
Shall go and have my tea and think about it -- and YES the language was blue when it happened , before you ask.
-
The joys of modelling.
Blue, I bet it was a very dark blue.

almost pitch black -- but as i say its only for FUN.

Mustard, custard and flippin' 'eck.
-
Just about the words I used -- I don't think so.
Anyway some touching up on the white and yellow parts of the shield.
-
Maximus is now fully armed - only the shield to finish and add.
-
Shield added - working on base and protective cover.
-
Maximus added to wood base and cover made. Titles to make and some cleaning up to do on the cover.
-
Signs made and fitted
-
They sound like our committee!
Nice job.
-
They do

I've enjoyed watching this one, are we to have more of the same?
Haddock.

Haddock.
At the moment I am finishing a white metal archer Agincourt 1415 - from when I was at sea, so that's at least 30 years ago.
Have got the bug with figures again - so yes will be looking to get some more 1/16 scale figures. Will let "she who must be obeyed" choose which one.

Reminds me of that 60's song, something about "Under your thumb"?
-
Have you not seen the thumb print on the top of my head ?????????
-
I just thought that they were rings to show your age, that's why there were so many!
