Excellent work.
All it needs now is a scenic setting.

Looking good Kevin. What colour did you use to undercoat before the silver/aluminium colour? I think someone at the club once suggested gloss black.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the comment. Yes, you are correct Gloss Black is a really good base for Silver.
I would normally do this for natural metal aircraft finishes.
However on this model, I just use Mr. Surfacer 1500 spray, which gave a super smooth finish, but I then polished it with some really fine micromesh cloth.
I then used Alclad II aluminium sprayed at about 15 psi, and though it sprayed okay the finish was a little too shiny and a bit grainy in places.
So I polished it again, and then used Vallejo Duraluminium from their metal finish range, and it went on really well. Just right amount of 'Silver' I was wanting.
Finally, I brushed on two thin coats of 'Kleer' in readiness for the decals.
Hope that answers your query.
Cheers,
Bigkev
I hope my next is always better

I've been meaning to check out the Vallejo metal finish paints Kev.  Do you recommend them?

Hi Wizzel,
Yes, I like using them a lot.
They spray really beautifully, and very smooth.
Only thing is you need to seal the finish with Kleer or Vallejo's similar varnish.
Have included a picture of the three metal colours, black base, and varnish that I have.
Cheers,
Bigkev

Thanks Kev, I shall give them a go.  I may have to put an order in to Hannants soon - what would I search for to find the plain decal sheet for canopy frames?  I may as well chuck some of that on the list too.  I had a quick look but every search I do brings back about 4 million results!
