Hi Zak,
Great Stuff.
You are a master at scratch building.
Cheers,
Bigkev
Thank you kind sir.
Here the mudguards are formed from plastic card moulded into a ring by wrapping round a former, immersing in boiling water, cooling and then the plastic retains the circular shape. This is then cut to the desired lengths.

The steering wheel formed from solder wrapped around a former and cut, the rest is superglued in place, there will be some detail in the cab, but just a suggestion of brake lever and gearstick.

I am going to try making some wheels from balsa, the photos will show the process hopefully.

Flat bed added.
I am not happy with the wheels, I will try and improve them.

Hi Zak,
I'm sure those wheels won't hold his build back.
It looks great as is, but if your not happy, then I'm sure you will make it so... (Captain Picard)
Cheers,
Bigkev

I am attempting to make a new set of wheels in plastic, a similar procedure but they hold an edge better,
Time will tell, its taken since 8:30 to make one.
Perhaps I should get some casting resin and moulding rubber?

Here is the first one, I think it is an improvement.

Looks good to me - I have never had much luck making things from balsa unless it was a flat section.

Hi, spent a lot of yesterday making wheels, still not totally happy, but they will have to do.
Paint sloshed on in the method of Haddock.
Colours of RAF vehicles during the Battle of Britain  - almost anything goes, they seem to have been transitioning from blue to disruptive and anything in between.
Sort of khaki -ish at the moment.
The black, mickey mouse ears pattern was later.
Seems almost like army colours, but maybe they were too busy to repaint ground vehicles.

While the paint dries, I started this on our modelling day, I have eventually finished it.

Hi Zak,
Never mind Zak,  they look okay to me, in fact they look 'Wheely Great!'
Sorry could not resist.

PS. Couldn't think of a pun for the nice Nissen Hut

I have sourced some online, just waiting for a price and maybe they will look better.

The scratchbuild stuff takes my breath away.  That first world war thread you did went on forever and was brill.  I'm going to enjoy seeing them for real hopefully at our show!
