Model for D-Day
« on: June 05, 2019, 04:46:01 PM »
Here is my contribution for D-Day, to commemorate the 75th anniversary and all of the people who took part on behalf of us all, particularly those that paid the ultimate price.

It's a Grumman Hellcat Mk1, operating from HMS Emperor in the Western Approaches.  This force provided fighter cover to protect the invasion fleet on the 6th June from any intervention from the large number of Luftwaffe anti shipping aircraft based in Brittany and the Atlantic coast.

You will indeed.
Still hoping to call in on Sunday too, but won't stay too long as it is my wedding anniversary!
Cheers,
Roger

Thanks Big Kev,
I'm quite getting into Hellcats now - if only we had a 1/24 kit.  We can but dream!

Cheers,
Roger
